lifeless body of a 13-year old girl found in an irrigation canal on October 27, 2020 with no bottom cover
was believed to have been raped first before she was killed in Barangay Bella-luz, San Mateo, Isabela

Once upon a time, 16 March 2007, there was a mother who gave birth to a little girl. But sadly this
woman was died right after giving birth. The child grew without a loving mother beside her but luckily
she have aunties, relatives, brothers and her father. She is an active youth member in the Salvation
Army church and in fact, she plays the Ukelele instrument every Sunday. She's also a responsible and a
hardworking girl. During the pandemic way back year 2020, plants like "aba-aba and dara-dara" were
became phenomenal plants and she together with her half younger brother have found a business -
selling plant burn in different sizes. One day, I saw this young teenage girl delivering my mother's plant
burns (my mom ordered to them). She was very jubilant when she talked to my mother. On the next day
she came back in our house to sell Rambutan fruit to my mother and I saw her personally happy. After
two weeks, together with my neighbors (mga kabarangay) we were all shocked because the girl who
sells Rambutan fruit was found dead in an irrigation canal on October 27, 2020 here in Barangay Bella-
luz, San Mateo, Isabela. Her lifeless body found in an irrigation canal with no bottom cover was believed
to have been raped first before she was killed. According to Scene of the Crime Operatives, she was hit
by a heavy thing on her head that caused her death. And based on the story of her brother and sister in
law, on October 26, 2020 (afternoon) they left her in the house to study and she will be accompanied by
her father later. But when they came back in the house they found out that her modules were scattered
around and they didn't even noticed her presence at that night. And suddenly in the morning it was
confirmed that she's already dead. November 2, 2020 her remains were taken to La Salette Cemetery,
San Mateo, Isabela with the hope of achieving justice for her bereaved families.

After how many months of searching for the suspect/s...

In an interview with PCapt. Abdel Aziz Maximo, the chief of the PNP San Mateo, said in the
investigation of their headquarters way back year 2020 that the victim's father Corpuz and his brother-
in-law Delos Reyes were the prime suspects in the crime. He said the suspects allegedly started hiding
and left San Mateo when the case was filed on November 10, 2020. With the effect of the warrant of
arrest in the rape with homicide case issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 40 Cauayan City on May
19, 2021, the PNP San Mateo began searching for the suspects until they were tracked down and
arrested in Nagtipunan, Quirino Province.

The death of Princess Dianne Corpuz was tragic. Yes, she is the victim of rape and homicide as
mentioned above. She's a happy girl, a grade 8 student, a 13-year old girl, a daughter with towering
ambitions and a friend but she's too young to be died. And the most hurting part of her death is that,
her own father was the suspect! Her father raped her! Her father killed her! She's too young and she
didn't deserve what happened. Her towering dreams were gone. Her right to security, right to
education, and most importantly her right to life were violated and taken by her own father. I think this
kind of crime, suspect must undergo in death penalty considering that he raped and killed his own child.
Death penalty law must be implemented in the country for such crime that is evidently serious. I would
like to bring back the primitive and traditional way of giving punishment wherein eye for an eye and
tooth for a tooth is done. Meaning to say if you take life, your life must be taken also. And I think if this
will happen again in the Philippine society, Filipino people will become more responsible to their
actions/behaviors. But unfortunately, the death penalty that I would like to be implemented is a hard
thing to do due to the fact that there are people in church and human rights advocates may surely
interfere with this.

Also, I would like to recommend that this kind of crime (rape with homicide) should be automatically
considered as a non bailable case even there is no someone who filed the case against the suspect. But
in the said case it wasn't and yet the suspects are freed from jail. I heard before that there's someone
who noticed the crime scene and this person helped the authorities in further investigations and
suddenly it has been stopped (I think because of fear and he chose his personal security rather than to
intervene in the case).

The said case is showing us that women are still in the battle of finding safe spaces in the community
even up to this moment. Women and children need more protection and policies to help them secure
their rights such as to life and security.

Princess' death is tragic and somewhat unbelievable case. The last time I saw her face personally in
our house she was smiling and full of grace and sadly I won't be able to see that smile again on her face.
I realized that life is too short and unpredictable. We never know when will be our last breath so if you
have spare time breath with happiness and share it to others. Princess' death serve as a form of
awareness that parents should guide and guard their children, especially women, to stop the allegedly
increase in rape and death cases here in the municipality of San Mateo and in the whole country,
Philippines!
