social connection

Every single person in our world is connected to the other people around them. All the
humans are chained to society so we are strongly connected to people around us. Human
connection is an energy exchange between people who are paying attention to one another.
It has the power to deepen the moment, inspire change and build trust. Nowadays, ,,social
connection” has become a subject of active discussion and may people are not aware of its
meaning and importance.

First of all, social connection is the feeling that you belong to a group and generally feel
close to other people. It is clear that everybody has their own group of people with who he
or she enjoys to communicate and be connected. Scientific researches show that this is a
core psychological need essential to feeling satisfied with your life.

Everybody thinks that we know how to take care of ourselves, but not many people know
how important the social connection is for us. Researches have shown that lack of social
connection causes bigger health damage than smoking, obesity or etc. while strong social
connection leads to a 50% increased chance of longevity,
strengthens your immune system(research by Steve Cole shows that genes impacted by
loneliness also code for immune function and inflammation)
helps you recover from disease faster and may even lengthen your life!

People who feel more connected to others have lower levels of anxiety and depression.
Moreover, studies show they also have higher self-esteem, greater empathy for others, are
more trusting and cooperative and, as a consequence, others are more open to trusting and
cooperating with them. In other words, social connectedness generates a positive feedback
loop of social, emotional and physical well-being.

Unfortunately, the opposite is also true for those who lack social connectedness. Low levels
of social connection are associated with declines in physical and psychological health as well
as a higher likelihood for antisocial behavior that leads to further isolation.
Many people struggle of low social connection, because lack of social connection causes:
lower stability to anxiety and depression, increased antisocial behavior and violence, slower
recovery from disease and addiction to suicide.

To evaluate, from the facts given above we can surely say that social connection is a very
important and useful thing. Everybody out in this world surely needs higher social
connection to feel better mentally and physically.
