You are Chris Wong, a committee member of the Tech Club at school. You have been
asked by Mr Siu, the head of the Parent Teacher Association, to help them decide what
new digital equipment to buy with their recent fundraising funds. Read Mr Siu’s email,
look at the pictures and write your email.

You may use some of the ideas from the email and pictures and / or your own ideas in your
writing. Write the email in about 160 words.

Dear Chris

The Parent Teacher Association recently held a fundraising activity to raise money to buy
some new digital equipment for our school. We would like your help to decide what to buy
with the funds we raised.

Could you please suggest some suitable items? They should be things that will help to
improve teaching or learning, and that students and teachers will enjoy using.

I’ve attached some pictures of possible items. Please send me an email to tell me which ones
you think we should buy and why. If you have any suggestions for other digital items, please
let me know.

Dear Mr Siu

Thank you for your email. I am very happy to hear that the PTA raised enough funds to buy
some new digital equipment for our school.

My first suggestion for what to buy is an interactive whiteboard. It is basically a smart

whiteboard that allows students to interact with images, videos and games through touching
the materials displayed on it. Teachers could use the board to make lessons more fun and
engaging.

My second suggestion is Virtual Reality headsets. VR headsets would allow students to go

on outings without ever leaving the classroom. They could explore many different places
around the world, from the Amazon rainforest to an active volcano in Iceland — all from the
safety of the classroom! These real-life experiences could help make learning more
memorable and meaningful. Students also usually learn more effectively through
experiences.
