Activities
A. Identify the following pictures based on the productivity tools and describe. (2
points each)
1. Resources for Students – As we can see in the first picture, the students are using
computer applications or internet in order for them to finish their research study—definitely one
of the effective ways to find some credible resources and references. This is a good example of
how useful it is for every student who are learning and exploring things. As a student myself, the
technology and online applications we have nowadays indeed helped me a lot in finishing my
modules and activities. It became one of my primary sources of information as well as the
platform where I send my outputs to my teachers. Not only does the image convey the learning
these systems can give to students, it also brought convenience to us in making our educational
experience more methodical and somewhat “vivid”. Overall, it leveled-up the productivity and
performance of the students; of course, only if it is properly used.
2. Resources for Teachers – Personally, I interpret the image as a teacher looking for
something that can be used for the class discussion. Especially in this period of pandemic, most
schools transitioned into a virtual style of relaying information to students. This is one of the best
possible ways to prevent the proliferation of COVID cases while still maintaining the quality
education for them. Most teachers are now using different software applications, for
presentations and modules, to deliver their lessons with ease and style. It also became one of
their resources in seeking new contents to discuss and an effective tool in doing their job. Just
like any other professionals, teachers truly gained numerous help ever since the development of
technology and different online applications.
3. Virtual Field Trips – Ever since the development of technology, software applications, and
suchlike, it became easier for us to see and appreciate the beauty of our world and nature.
Within our palms, we can witness already the wonderful things our world has to offer. Wherever
you are, as long as you have the access, you can go to wherever you want to go using simple
clicks and swipes. While assessing the 3rd image, it actually amazed me thinking that we have
progressed this much. Technology gave us brand new experiences that are truly spectacular
and astonishing. Even if we are in our houses, we can still travel and explore new places
through virtual means. Online simulation, one of its functions, became a great tool in enhancing
further the different sectors of our society. This has been also useful for students as it guides
them in doing the actual steps and methods needed for a specific lesson or project. To make
this simple, the image shows us that by means of technology, we can easily connect with a lot
of things.
4. Multimedia Resources (Audio) – The fourth image is a good representation of a multimedia
function. As we know, headset symbolizes sound and audio, hence, we could say that it falls
under 'audio multimedia resources' category. Believe it or not, the development of audio
technology helped a lot of people and students. For those who have no sight and can only
receive information by means of hearing, this has been very useful and convenient. Audio books
existed because of the refinement of audio technology, and as we know, these have been
effective for kids and other learners in boosting their intellectual health and stimulating their
talents and abilities. We can gain a lot of resources already nowadays by using this, and it
definitely benefited us in making our lives productive.
5. Software Resources and Multimedia Resources (Video) – Based on the picture, it could
be either software resources, as ‘videoing’ is distinguished in the world of online, software, and
public information; or multimedia resources as just like the 4 th image, it also fits the definition of
‘multimedia’ particularly the video category. In the present times, there are a lot of application
and websites where ‘videos’ are essential in relaying the information or context properly and
intelligibly. Videos can be easily understood by commoners as it shows a direct visual
representation of what the information is, therefore becoming an effective way of transporting
data and suchlike. For instance, a lot of students now are seeking resources in YouTube rather
than reading different articles as just like what I have said, videos have a visual representation.
To be frank, I prefer seeking information from videos rather than reading different articles online.
I am not saying that it is not effective either, but it really is easier compared to that. As what the
image wanted to convey, videos are a great source of knowledge and entertainment—hence
suiting the two aforementioned productivity tools.
B. Explain the following words.
Internet
Internet, ever since its invention, is something that changed how our world currently
circulates. Not in a direct way, but on how people, in general, have been influenced and
attached to this thing. Because of the internet, people were able to experience a variety of
amazing things. It not only gave us the opportunity of having a reliable resource of information, it
also brought access to a lot of things that before are exceedingly hard to do and to
accomplished—internet made a lot of difficult things as easy and simple as tapping, clicking,
swiping, and typing. Indeed, it gifted us great convenience in which truly enhanced and
speeded-up the way we work as well as how society progress. In fact, internet is used already in
different sectors of our economy, from education, communication, commerce, and suchlike
which are crucial in maintaining its status. I also want to pinpoint how it affects the circulation of
information inside our society. Students likely utilize internet for their studies as well as their
reference for research and other forms of academic writings.
Entertainment is also a big service that the internet provided us. We have numerous
online games and social media apps that are effective in loosing boredom and at some
instances, even stress. With this, we are able to connect with different types of people and
communicate with our friends and love ones anywhere around the world, as long as you have
the adequate internet access. Having said this, of course, the existence of internet still has its
drawbacks. For some, due to how versatile and convenient internet has become, it is often used
by spiteful criminals to lure victims online. Students also have a tendency of totally depending
themselves on the information they find online—causing a proliferation of inaccurate information
or falsehood among them. Despite this, personally, internet is most advantageous and useful to
majority of us. To be honest, internet is already part of our lives, and it will stay there for a long
time to continue offering us with amazing functions and wonderful things.
E-learning
I know that a lot of us are, somehow, already familiar with this term due to everything
that happened these past years. E-learning, as the term suggests, refers to the concept of
leaning by means of electronic devices or technology. Since most schools here in the
Philippines transitioned into a virtual style of teaching and delivering information to students,
most of us became aware on how helpful it can be in maintaining the quality of education
despite the continuous increase of cases of COVID-19 in the country. We adapted the concept
of E-learning in order to avoid the possible dangers that could happen in the face-to-face set-up.
To my surprise, I find it really effective as long as you have the equipment in doing so.
Some examples that we can use here are the applications and websites that Trinitas
College (TC) uses in their operations. Schema and Streamyard are both considered as E-
learning applications that are used now by Trinitarians in submitting their activities as well as
studying their lessons. Even though TC is not yet transitioning back into the original set-up of
face-to-face, I can say with absolute certainty that E-learning allowed Trinitas College to
continue its aspiration of delivering excellent academic curriculum. Truly, the development of
technology helped a lot of schools in these trying times—further enhancing a lot of things, and in
this case, our educational system.
