Introduction
Technology is a term that originated from the Greek word technologia, which is a
combination of techne, meaning “craft” and logia meaning “saying”. As a result, technology
might be considered the articulation of a craft. In a formal manner, it is a branch of
knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical means and their interrelation
with life, society and the environment, drawing upon such subjects as industrial arts,
engineering, applied science and pure science (Random House Dictionary, 2013)
Technology, which is known to be a growing part of any society today pervasively, had
brought significant changes in the different fields like health, medicine, entertainment,
business, trade and commerce, leisure, etc. The use of technology is at least one
unavoidable reality twenty years after the introduction of personal computer (Matulac,
2013). Moreover, Matulac (2013) stated that closing our awareness regarding the changes
brought by technology would mean death especially to educators. Lensing into education, it
is also a key factor on the radical changes in the educational system (Bates, 2011). It turned
classroom environment from teacher-centered to student-centered one. It increasingly
moved the boundary of educational resources. The use of computer has transformed the
traditional concepts of education (Shirley, Philip & Jennifer, 2007) confirming the
statements of historic educationists: Thomas Edison (1922) ‘motion pictures would replace
textbooks in classrooms’, William Levenson (1945) ‘radio receivers would be as common in
classrooms as the blackboard, and B. F. Skinner (1960s) ‘new technology devices would
vastly increase students’ interest in learning’ (Norman, 1999). Researchers conducted
worldwide indicate that using technology has a positive impact on teaching and learning
(Almekhlafi & Almeqdadi, 2010)
The Philippines should not be left behind when it comes to applying education
technology. The ethical and responsible use of computers, tablets, cellphones and other
devices can greatly enhance the learning capability of students, for it has been shown
through studies that children (and adults for that matter) can better grasp and understand
their lessons in a more relaxed environment, without the prying (and sometimes mocking)
eyes of classmates or teachers.
Emerging technologies can be powerful tools in education. The Philippines can copy
the US and slowly, as the budget of the Department of Education allows, provide schools
computers, fast Internet service, digital devices and software for the use of students.
Investing on e-learning will benefit both teachers and students. Teachers can disseminate
their lessons and assignments with ease, and students can work on their lessons at home.
Little by little, the country can introduce changes to the system by adopting a wider array of
learning platforms with the use of technology.

How Technology improves Education
Apart from the argument that technology has negatively affected students' learning
schedules, edTech has been proved to be a helpful tool. Nowadays, the time that
students invest in learning can be utilized in the best way possible since their growth is
under their control thoroughly: either they can make efforts to stand out or let the
opportunities go vain.
2. Improved Communication
3. Advanced Research
Cloud storage has made research a lot easier for the students these days. Gone are
the days when they had to go through piles of books to find a specific reference to improve
their assignments and projects. With technology, research has been quite an effective
tool. Since a lot of time is saved during research, students are able to incorporate a lot of
information and knowledge in their projects. Also, the acquisition of different solutions and
results all over the world is now possible, which is likely the most obvious benefit a student
gets in his life.
4. Effective Assessments
With the help of digital simulations and models, teachers are not only able to prepare
lessons in an efficient manner, but also know the progress of their students. There
is software available with which teachers can give or receive assessments of their
students in real-time.
“Technology for Teaching and Learning 2” 2nd Term 2021-2022 by Ms. Dulompori Page 3
Such software is made to help teachers stay updated with all records, for instance,
the number of learning assignments given, how much time students need to solve a
problem, etc. It is a way of helping teachers know how much time a particular question
requires from some students, and if they're getting better; if not, what further efforts
should be made for their improvement.
Needless to say, self-paced learning is another big advantage that students enjoy
with the emergence of technology in the education industry. When they opt to learn a
specific concept and confronting any difficulty, there is no need to just skip it off.
Although there are some quick learners who are capable of adapting quickly, there are
some others who take considerable time to absorb an idea. Such students are blessed
with the idea of technology being part of their learning; now they can easily pace up
with their peers with the complete understanding of developed lessons and online
curriculum that is exclusively designed for them
6. Fun Learning
It is a fact that a student learns more when he practices. The use of technology
has made things a lot more fun than ever. Students are getting engaged in so many
learning tasks that improve their retention of new concepts. Since the introduction of
computers, tablets, and mobile phones, there has been a great scope of education
applications that allow learners to learn various concepts in a playful manner.
Moreover, they can access to live streaming videos online to better understand an
idea, subject, or concept.
The idea of group study has been improvised in the cyber world. Now, the students
don’t need to get together physically; online collaboration platforms make things done.
There, not only students can discuss and chat, but also share documents and notes.
This practice turns out to be a great option if you are assigned a group project
8. Open Education

The importance of Technology in Education
There are countless reasons why technology is a key aspect of learning in the
schools. Whether we like it or not, technology is everywhere; and in order for our
students to survive in post-secondary education and the business world, they must know
technology.
Kids know technology better than most adults. It has become the easiest way they
learn, because it is such an integral part of their life. Engaging with technology in the
classroom has not only helped them learn better, but they also acquire multi-tasking
skills. At this day in age, they hardly know how to learn without it. This knowledge is
important, because they would be way behind in the real world without it.
“Technology for Teaching and Learning 2” 2nd Term 2021-2022 by Ms. Dulompori Page 5
2. It helps students learn more (and better)
Online tools give students more flexible learning experiences. Some students might
use a YouTube video tutorial to better understand a concept. Others might complete an
online activity or game that provides instant feedback so they know if they’re on the right
track. Students who understand the material right away can find more difficult problems
or activities to supplement their knowledge, while those who need more practice can use
a different activity that provides more repetition. In other words, technology
offers variety to students in a way that a typical classroom lecture cannot.
Technology also motivates students to learn. They look forward to having time on
their devices to explore and learn things through websites, videos, apps, and games.
Students can learn and have fun at the same time, which helps them stay engaged with
the material.
“Technology for Teaching and Learning 2” 2nd Term 2021-2022 by Ms. Dulompori Page 6
4. It provides handy tools and opportunities for teachers
Like parents, teachers benefit enormously from technology. They can easily email an
entire class or send a Remind.com text message to all parents simultaneously. If a
teacher needs to reach a specfic parent, they’re only a few clicks away. When a teacher
needs help from colleagues, she can send a quick email or join an online forum to share
ideas and ask questions.
It also gives teachers the opportunity to pursue professional development from the
comfort of their device. Nowadays, university classes and entire degree programs can be
taken online. There are also websites where teachers can help and support one another.
Thousands of articles are at their fingertips to help them learn about what is changing in
the field of education and discover some of the best practices are from around the world.
“Technology for Teaching and Learning 2” 2nd Term 2021-2022 by Ms. Dulompori Page 7
As the typical classroom size continues to grow, technology provides a way to
make it seem a bit smaller and more manageable. Students can get instant
feedback from online resources even if the classroom teacher cannot be available
for an entire class all at once.
Students can also tutor classmates with the use of technology. They can
collaborate and ask questions in real time, both at home and at school through
online discussion forums or Slack channels set up by their instructors.
Technology allows students to help each other and work together across to better
understand the material. In that sense, they can sometimes serve as the
(supervised) teachers — and learning through instruction is known to be highly
effective for mastering a topic and solving problems.
“Technology for Teaching and Learning 2” 2nd Term 2021-2022 by Ms. Dulompori Page 8
These projects help students use more critical thinking skills and less rote
memorization. Students have access to unlimited resources for research and
learning about any particular subject. They can use their research to propose
solutions to real-life problems rather than creating a poster board of regurgitated
facts. Technology also gives students more freedom in how they want to
complete an assignment — like making a blog, website, video, and more.

8. Testing has gone online
One protocol that schools don’t have control over, but must adapt to, is online
testing. Testing online is the way of the future, but it has a lot of advantages. Assessing
students’ performance can be done instantly with technology. Beyond seeing test
scores in real-time, teachers can better track and understand students’ grasp of the
subject.

TECHNOLOGY IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION
“Technology for Teaching and Learning 2” 2nd Term 2021-2022 by Ms. Dulompori Page 11
Benefits of incorporating technology into physical education classes
Teaching physical education can be challenging for any number of reasons, from a
lack of equipment to keeping students engaged. To meet these challenges, some
educators are turning to technology to create more dynamic classes that work for
students with a wide range of fitness levels. There are six ways on how Technology
integrate into Physical Education classes.
Pedometers
“Technology for Teaching and Learning 2” 2nd Term 2021-2022 by Ms. Dulompori Page 12
Pedometers have been found to be a valuable teaching tool in Physical Education
class at almost every level of education (Scruggs et al. 2003). While there are variety
of different Pedometer styles, shapes and sizes, the information that can be compiled
from each can be just as different. The basic pedometer can measure steps taken,
distance, time a person is in activity, calories burned and a few other fundamental
measures. In addition, some pedometers record heart rate, have time-of-day displays,
are weather resistant, have alternate metric capabilities and provide easy-to-read
displays. There has been a variety of research studies conducted with pedometers and
the findings have consistently reported using the technology device to be beneficial as
both an instructional aid as well as a measurement device for activity during Physical
education. For example, the research has found that pedometers are a valid method of
measuring the amount of physical activity in physical education class; pedometers are
easy to use, cost effective, break resistant, come as waist or wrist mounted features
and with different measurement capabilities, the device make students accountable for
their activity during physical education class.
Heart rate monitors are used to measure a student’s pulse while engaged in
activities. Using these devices allows educators and students to aim for an
individualized target heart rate that is challenging to maintain but not too difficult to
achieve. By customizing student goals, students feel more involved and more
empowered to continue with fitness. Once more, there are different target rates
depending on age and ability, so remember to take those into consideration.
Health Tracking
Taking the data used by heart monitors and pedometers is vital to creating a
long-term plan for advancing health. Some pedometers and heart monitors have
connectivity built in, which makes the process easier. Using tracking programs or
“Technology for Teaching and Learning 2” 2nd Term 2021-2022 by Ms. Dulompori Page 13
monitoring systems provides educators with tools useful in creating custom goals for
the students. Using these kinds of programs allows for instant feedback that allows
students the opportunity to adjust their goals and how they wish to achieve them.
Virtual Connections
“Technology for Teaching and Learning 2” 2nd Term 2021-2022 by Ms. Dulompori Page 14
Effective learning involves two-way communication where students are able to
engage in discussion and challenge the teacher’s ideas in order to achieve a deeper
understanding. Many classrooms have already started taking advantage of the online
world by creating classroom blogs or websites. A classroom website is valuable for
encouraging discussion after class, or enabling communication for students applying
PE techniques or working on sport practices or exercise outside of classroom.
Another awesome way to leverage virtual connectivity is to invite guests into your
classroom via video chat programs such as Skype, Zoom and Imo. Students can also
be encouraged to get involved with online courses about nutrition, exercising, and
fitness principles, or web quests geared toward purposeful inquiry.
Video Resources
As a result of advancements in technology and
faster internet becoming available today, it is now
possible to stream videos on YouTube and Vimeo.
Physical education teachers can take advantage
of this and recommend workout videos to students,
as well as other types of content which provide
useful demonstrations for skill development. If an
educator wants to teach something such as dance
or yoga, there is a wide variety of how-to videos
that can apply to any age group. Additionally,
some educators create video projects where
student groups create an instructional video to
teach something to the rest of the class.
Gaming Systems
Interactive video games such as Dance Dance Revolution, Wii Fit, and Wii Sports,
can be invaluable in promoting physical activity of students and are already in use
across many physical education centers. They serve as a reasonable alternative to
exercising in bad weather and produce results similar to those seen with outdoor
physical activity. Physical education teachers can easily tap into students’ love of video
games to foster interest in physical education. Video games are extremely engaging
and immersive, and can be taken beyond the school environment and continued at
home.
The best fitness games are the ones that allow you to have fun while you're
sweating a little bit. There are a lot of excellent ways to exercise out in the world, but
the unique way in which video games, unsurprisingly, gamify our fitness, is one that
makes it far more rewarding for some people. Whether you're looking for a full-body
workout, a game that's dedicated to your fitness, or just one that happens to help you
improve your cardio.
“Technology for Teaching and Learning 2” 2nd Term 2021-2022 by Ms. Dulompori Page 15
Different platforms of fitness games
Blaston
Blaston is a VR game where you and an opponent stand atop a little platform, and
then pick up the games magically forming around you to shoot each other with. Each
gun fires different kinds of bullets, and you can change the load out as you unlock new
ones by leveling up.
What makes it such a great fitness game, is that you have to dodge the bullets
flying towards you. You do this by moving around, crouching, crab walking, jumping,
and just generally moving constantly. It's not just a great cardio workout, but also good
for your balance and your core strength as you make sure you're dodging the giant ball
of energy floating towards you.
Active Arcade
“Technology for Teaching and Learning 2” 2nd Term 2021-2022 by Ms. Dulompori Page 16
Active Arcade is one of the best fitness games going, and the best part about it is
that it's on mobile phones. All you have to do is make sure the screen and the camera
are pointing towards you, and then you just have to do as you're told. It features a
collection of different mini-games that all have the aim of making you move your body.
Sometimes that means you'll be jumping about like a fool, and other games will have
you trying to move your arms to strike specific points. It's a really fun way to add a little
bit of excitement and novelty into your training, and fitness fanatics and newbies alike
will love it.
Fitness Boxing
If you don't want to shell out for Ring Fit Adventure then Nintendo Fitness
Boxing could be a good alternative. The Switch game offers you workouts overseen by
a virtual trainer, where you use your Joy-Con motion controllers to perform punches
and dodging maneuvers, with the difficulty increasing gradually over time.
The game uses your weight and height to estimate your fitness age and calorie
burn, setting the routine, length and intensity of these workouts based on this, however
these can be adjusted if you're not happy. It's a great workout for those who want a
fairly-straightforward boxing workout without all the bells and whistles.
Beat Saber
“Technology for Teaching and Learning 2” 2nd Term 2021-2022 by Ms. Dulompori Page 17
The beauty of Beat Saber is that you don't really notice the physical exertion you're
putting into it because it's so much fun - but you'll certainly feel it tomorrow.
Zumba: Burn It Up
Yet another fitness game offering from Nintendo, Zumba: Burn It Up is the newest
addition to the Zumba video game series. Burn It Up essentially offers you a private
Zumba lesson in your home, with 30 high-energy classes to get your heart-pumping
and some great tunes for you to shake your hips to. It's an official Zumba product that
features real-life instructors, so you know it's legit. Plus, you can get up to three friends
to join you for the tortur- sorry, fun.
Wii Sports
Wii Sports offers five sports to play: baseball, bowling, tennis, golf and boxing. You
use your Wii remote to mimic the actions you would do if you were actually taking part
in the sport.
In addition, there are training and fitness modes available that monitor players'
progress. Plus, you don't have to play alone! All the activities are available to play
multiplayer so you can beat your pal at tennis without having to step on the court.
“Technology for Teaching and Learning 2” 2nd Term 2021-2022 by Ms. Dulompori Page 18
Knockout League
Another VR fitness game that will put you through your paces, Knockout League is
an arcade-style boxing game that sees you immersing yourself in the fight. The game
uses 1:1 tracking of your head and hands, so you'll need to make sure you duck and
dodge every punch that comes your way - while landing some of your own.
But it's not all that serious, some of your competitors are a tad.. out of the ordinary.
So expect to go mano a mano with a moustached octopus, pirate and many more
wacky fighters.
Health saving technologies in the classroom are an important part of both the teaching
process and the education of students. They can help children learn something and stay
healthy at the same time. The poor impact of education on children’s health was noticed in
1805 when the famous teacher Pestalozzi noticed that children are undermined in their
healthy development by going to a traditional school. These problems have only grown in the
past century.
“Technology for Teaching and Learning 2” 2nd Term 2021-2022 by Ms. Dulompori Page 19
As technologies improved, children’s health declined. More and more of them would
spend hours in front of a screen. At first it was the television, then the computer and finally,
mobile devices. We’ve grown from having a stationary device that provided entertainment
and information to having a mobile device that’s always with us. Children see adults with the
devices and they want to use them as well. Nowadays, kids don’t get much physical activity
at all. They go to school and come back home to their entertainment.
This takes a toll on their health. However, technology doesn’t always have to be bad for
children. In fact, it can be used to improve their knowledge of health and benefits of
movement. So, even though you’re already helping children improve their health by teaching
a second language, you can take it a step further and make sure your classroom is great for
both mental and physical health.
Improves engagement
“Technology for Teaching and Learning 2” 2nd Term 2021-2022 by Ms. Dulompori Page 20
Improves knowledge retention
Students who are engaged and interested in things they are studying, are
expected to have a better knowledge retention. As mentioned before, technology
can help to encourage active participation in the classroom which also is a very
important factor for increased knowledge retention. Different forms of technology
can be used to experiment with and decide what works best for students in terms of
retaining their knowledge.
No one learns in the same way because of different learning styles and different
abilities. Technology provides great opportunities for making learning more effective
for everyone with different needs. For example, students can learn at their own
speed, review difficult concepts or skip ahead if they need to. What is more,
technology can provide more opportunities for struggling or disabled students.
Access to the Internet gives students access to a broad range of resources to
conduct research in different ways, which in turn can increase the engagement.
Encourages collaboration
“Technology for Teaching and Learning 2” 2nd Term 2021-2022 by Ms. Dulompori Page 21
Students can learn useful life skills through technology
By using technology in the classroom, both teachers and students can develop
skills essential for the 21st century. Students can gain the skills they will need to be
successful in the future. Modern learning is about collaborating with others, solving
complex problems, critical thinking, developing different forms of communication
and leadership skills, and improving motivation and productivity. What is more,
technology can help develop many practical skills, including creating
presentations, learning to differentiate reliable from unreliable sources on the
Internet, maintaining proper online etiquette, and writing emails. These are very
important skills that can be developed in the classroom.
You may think technology is just a distraction, but it can help encourage active
participation in your classroom. Using devices like a computer, tablet, or other type
of technology in your classroom can help turn traditionally dull subjects into
interactive and fun activities.
Improves Collaboration
Technology can help teachers form a better relationship with their students and
their colleagues. Integrating technology into your lesson plans as well as using it to
expand your own knowledge of subject matter can make a significant difference in
the classroom.

Upon reading and examined the lessons carefully it is expected that you are ready to
answer some questions related to this lesson, please answer this honestly and with
sincerity.

Explain issues
concerning
computer ethics,
copyright
requirement,
plagiarism and
internet privacy Identify issues concerning
computer ethics, copyright
requirements, plagiarism, internet
and data privacy.
Computer Ethics
= a set of moral standards that govern the use of computers. It is society’s views
about the use of computers, both hardware and software. Privacy concerns, intellectual
property rights and effects on the society are some of the common issues of computer
ethics.
Privacy Concerns
Data Protection – also known as information privacy or data privacy is the process of
safeguarding data which intends to influence a balance between individual privacy rights
while still authorizing data to be used for business purposes.
“Technology for Teaching and Learning 2” 2nd Term 2021-2022 by Ms. Dulompori Page 24
Intellectual Property Rights
Cracking – is a way of breaking into a system by getting past the security features of
the system. It’s a way of skipping the registration and authentication steps when installing
a software.
Software License – allows the use of digital material by following the license
agreement. Ownership remains with the original copyright owner, users are just granted
licenses to use the material based on the agreement.
Effects on Society
Jobs – Some jobs have been abolished while some jobs have become simpler as
computers have taken over companies and businesses. Things can now be done in just
one click whereas before it takes multiple steps to perform a task. This change may be
considered unethical as it limits the skills of the employees.
There are also ethical concerns on health and safety of employees getting sick from
constant sitting, staring at computer screens and typing on the keyboard or clicking on
the mouse.
There are ways where we can save energy like limiting computer time and turning off
the computer or putting on sleep mode when not in use. Buying energy efficient
computers with Energy Star label can also help save the environment.
Social Impact – Computers and the internet help people stay in touch with family
and friends. Social media has been very popular nowadays.

Copyright
= refers to the legal right of the owner of intellectual property.
In simpler terms, copyright is the right to copy. This means that the original creators of
products and anyone they give authorization to are the only ones with the exclusive right
to reproduce the work.

INTERNET PRIVACY refers to the
vast range of technologies, protocols
and concepts related to giving
individual users or other parties more
privacy protections in their use of the
global Internet.
Internet privacy takes many
forms, including mandatory privacy
statements on websites, data sharing
controls, data transparency initiatives
and more.
Internet privacy and anonymity are paramount to users, especially as e-commerce
continues to gain traction. Privacy violations and threat risks are standard considerations
for any website under development.
The general idea is that if data is biometrically protected, only the individual with the
biometric data will have access to it.
“Technology for Teaching and Learning 2” 2nd Term 2021-2022 by Ms. Dulompori Page 28
Early biometric designs included thumbprint and retina scan devices, but many of
these were not very feasible due to hardware requirements and integration
requirements. Now, the promise of voice-based authentication adds a key functionality
to Internet privacy technology. Many types of data sets can be stored behind a
voice-based authentication system, ensuring that only the individual with access will be
able to view them.
Filipinos spend an average of 10 hours and 2 minutes each day online, the highest
in the world, according to recent data. The Philippines also tops social media use for
the fourth straight year. Vast amounts of personal information from the Philippines,
including photos of daily activities, are freely circulating the Web.
What has the country done to ensure privacy and data protection?
In 2012, the Philippines passed Republic Act No. 10173 or the Data Privacy Act of
2012 (DPA) “to protect the fundamental human right to privacy of communication while
ensuring free flow of information to promote innovation and growth [and] the [State’s]
inherent obligation to ensure that personal information in information and
communications systems in government and in the private sector are secured and
protected”.
The DPA was passed in accordance with the Philippines agreements under
ASEAN Vision 2020 and at the urging of the growing business process outsourcing
industry. The law was modeled after the Data Protection Directive (95/46/EC) with
many of its terminologies and provisions similar to privacy laws in other jurisdictions.
“Technology for Teaching and Learning 2” 2nd Term 2021-2022 by Ms. Dulompori Page 29
The DPA and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) apply to all acts done
or practices engaged in and outside of the Philippines if:
= The act or practice involves personal data of a Philippine citizen or Philippine resident;
= The act, practice or processing of personal data is done by an entity with links to the
Philippines, subject to international law and comity.
1. Rule making.
2. Advisory. The NPC is the advisory body on matters related to personal data
protection.
3. Public education. – The NPC shall launch initiatives to educate the public about
data privacy, data protection and fair information rights and responsibilities

4. Compliance and monitoring. – The body has compliance and monitoring
functions to ensure personal information controllers comply with the law. It is also
tasked to manage the registration of personal data processing systems.
5. Complaints and investigations.
6. Enforcement.
If you are a personal information controller, you are required to comply with the
following in accordance with the law:
NOTE: No decision with legal effects concerning a data subject shall be made solely on
the basis of automated processing without the consent of the data subject. The consent
may be in written, electronic or recorded form. It may be given by a lawful
representative or agent.

Appointment of a Data Protection Officer in charge of ensuring compliance with
the DPA;
Creation of a data breach response team that will immediately address security
incidents or personal data breach;
Adoption of data protection policies that provide for data security measures and
security incident management;
Annual report of the summary of documented security incidents and personal data
breaches; and
The law requires a data breach notification within 72 hours upon knowledge of the
breach or reasonable belief that it has occurred to the NPC and the data subject. The
notification is generally required when the breach involves sensitive personal
information or any other information that may be used to enable identity fraud; this
information has been acquired by an unauthorized person; and the acquisition is likely
to give rise to a real risk of serious harm to the affected data subject.
The NPC may investigate the breach, depending on its nature or if there is a delay
or failure to notify. Inquiries may include on-site examination of systems and
procedures.
The Philippines has a relatively young data privacy regime. The Data Privacy Act ,
as well as RA No. 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act, was only enacted in 2012,
although some countries passed data protection laws as early as the 70s.
“Technology for Teaching and Learning 2” 2nd Term 2021-2022 by Ms. Dulompori Page 32
The Philippines’ regulatory body NPC was formally organized only in 2016, which
issued IRRs and circulars in the same year. Nevertheless, the country is on its way to
developing a stable framework of privacy protection as technological innovations
liberalize information sharing.
What is plagiarism?
Plagiarism is a common problem, primarily among students.Sometimes students
don’t mean to plagiarize, but they end up doing it accidentally because they are
unaware or unclear about it. Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines plagiarism as
follows:
“To steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one’s own: to use
(another production) without crediting the source”
Types of plagiarism
Plagiarism takes various forms. It ranges from reusing an entire document to
rewriting a single paragraph. In the end, all types of plagiarism come down to passing
off someone else’s ideas or words as your own.
“Technology for Teaching and Learning 2” 2nd Term 2021-2022 by Ms. Dulompori Page 33
When you use someone else paper, you are committing
plagiarism because you are pretending that the words and
ideas are yours.
Global plagiarism Using someone else work includes, for example,
having a friend or family write the text for you or buying an
essay from a so-called essay mill.
Detecting plagiarism isn’t too difficult. Either the reader of your text notices a
change in tone and writing style when reading a passage or uses plagiarism detection
tools.
Consequences of plagiarism

How do plagiarism checkers work?
Plagiarism checkers compare your document to a database of existing texts. The
plagiarism software searches for similarities and highlights passages that contain
potential plagiarism.
Not all plagiarism checkers are reliable. Where one plagiarism checker detects 2%
plagiarism, another might detect 45% plagiarism.
1. Database size
Some plagiarism checkers only compare the uploaded document with web
pages, while others also check books, publications and papers from other
students.
2. Plagiarism algorithm
Most plagiarism checkers are only capable of detecting exact similarities.
However, if the sentence structure is changed, if synonyms are used or if two
sources are combined, most plagiarism checkers won’t detect the plagiarism.
At Scribbr, we tested all the popular plagiarism checkers to answer these questions.
We made two comparisons: the first compared plagiarism checkers that claim to be
free, and the second compared both free and paid plagiarism checkers.
The concept seems simple, but common knowledge can differ from person to
person. Therefore, you should ask yourself who your readers are and what they
consider to be common knowledge.
To help you, we developed a common knowledge test that tells you whether or not
you need to cite the information.
“Technology for Teaching and Learning 2” 2nd Term 2021-2022 by Ms. Dulompori Page 36
How to cite sources
To cite your sources, you can use several citation styles, such as APA Style, MLA
format or Chicago Style citations. Universities and journals often tell you which citation
style to use. You should cite sources both in the running text with an in-text
citation, footnote or endnote and in the reference list.
The in-text citation often only names the author(s) and the year of publication. The
reference list contains all the information about a source, including the title of the work
and the website URL.
Every source type, such as a website, book or journal article, has different citation
guidelines. For instance, you only include a URL when you cite a website. Be sure to
check the guidelines of the citation style you use.
The easiest way to cite your sources is by using the Scribbr Citation Generator, as
you only have to enter the website URL, book ISBN or journal DOI. All the relevant
information is automatically retrieved and translated into a citation.

MODULE
Objective:
1. Demonstrate the steps by steps guide on how to create
Power point presentationpower point
Introduction
.
Power Point can be an effective tool to present material in the classroom and
encourage student learning. All we need is a bit of creativity, and this universal and
beneficial tool will help both the teachers and the students.
Some reasons why we need to use Power Point for teaching and learning
Activties
Enhance the teaching and learning experience for both teachers and students.
The electronic file format enables distribution and modification for/by students who are
unable to attend or have impaired visual or auditory abilities. PowerPoint includes a free
viewer program that can be distributed with the files, eliminating the need for the reader to
have PowerPoint installed on their personal system. However, if they do have it, they can
perform a wider range of manipulations on the provided PowerPoint file, such as editing the
text, before printing it out. Most Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) can now include
PowerPoint presentations if necessary.

How to create an efficient and presentable PowerPoint in the classroom
When you launch the PowerPoint program, you may be prompted to pick what kind
of document you want to create. Choose to create a blank presentation. If it does not
ask you this, a blank presentation will automatically launch.
The next thing you want to do is decide what design you want for the presentation. To
do this, go to the 'Design' tab at the top of the page. Scroll through all the options and
decide which one looks best for the presentation you want. To get a preview of what the
design will look like before applying it to the presentation, hover over the design you want
to preview.
“Technology for Teaching and Learning 2” 2nd Term 2021-2022 by Ms. Dulompori Page 39
This design will be automatically continued throughout the rest of your presentation.
Once you have more than one slide, you can add a different design for just one slide. To do
this, select the slide you want to change the design on by clicking on it. It will pop-up as the
big slide in the screen. Then you can right-click the design you want for this slide and select
'Apply to Selected Slide'. It will appear on that slide, but will not change the design of the
other slides.
Step 3: Create Title Page
Click the first box that says 'Click to add title' and add the title of your
presentation. Click the bottom box to add your name, or any other subtitle that you
choose. Once you have your text in the boxes, you can change their font, size, color, etc.
with the toolbar options at the top. You can change the size of the text box by selecting it,
and then dragging the corners of the box. To move the text boxes, select the box, and
move your arrow over the border of the box. A four-arrow icon will appear, and clicking
with this icon will allow you to move the text boxes wherever you choose.
“Technology for Teaching and Learning 2” 2nd Term 2021-2022 by Ms. Dulompori Page 40
There are a few ways you can add more slides. Notice that there is a separate area
to the left of the screen where your first slide is located. The first way to add a slide is to
right-click the area under where your first slide is located and select 'New Slide'. A new
slide will appear. The second way to add another slide it to click 'New Slide' in the toolbar
above the slides. This button is divided into two parts,. The top will insert a new slide with
a default layout. You can also click the bottom half of this button, which will allow you to
choose what type of layout you want. You can choose a slide with two text-boxes and a
title, one text-box, only a title, and many other options. You will see your new slide
appear to the left under the first, as well become the large slide that you can edit. The
design you picked earlier will have carried over to this slide. The design will carry over for
the rest of the slides you create unless you decide to change just one, like described
earlier. The guideline layout you chose will appear, and you can then add in your
information.
If you want to insert a chart, picture, graph, or any other graphic, click on the 'Insert'
tab at the top of the window. Here you will see buttons of all the options of what you can
insert into your slide. Click the designated box and insert what it is you want to have on
that slide. A second way you can insert pictures and graphs is when you have an empty
text or image box. Little pictures of the same options you saw in the toolbox will show
up in the middle of the box, and you can click any of these to insert as well. Once you
have your chart or picture, you can add a border or edit it however you want in the
'Format' tab.
“Technology for Teaching and Learning 2” 2nd Term 2021-2022 by Ms. Dulompori Page 41
Step 6: Add Transitions
To add transitions in between your slides, click the 'Animations' tab at the top of the
page. Here you can scroll through all the options of transitions, and hover over them to see
a preview. Select the slide you want the transition applied to, and then click the transition
you chose. You can do this for every slide, selecting the same or different transitions.
Once you have all your slides made, you can change the order of the slides. To do
this, click and drag the slides from where they are to where you want them in the
order. Another possibility, which is particularly useful if you presentation is longer, is to
click the 'Outline' button. You can find this small button above the left area where all your
slides are located smaller, directly to the right of the 'Slides' button. Here you will see a list
of all your slides and you can click and drag your slides to where you want them.
“Technology for Teaching and Learning 2” 2nd Term 2021-2022 by Ms. Dulompori Page 42
Step 8: Play the Presentation
Once you have all your slides completed and in the order you want, view your
slideshow. Click the 'Slide Show' tab at the top of the page and select 'From
Beginning'. You can go through your entire slideshow, and change slides by clicking
or pressing the right arrow. A shortcut to this is pressing F5. Congratulations! You
have now made a PowerPoint presentation.
“Technology for Teaching and Learning 2” 2nd Term 2021-2022 by Ms. Dulompori Page 43
However, you also want to provide a contrast between the background color and
text color. The built-in themes in PowerPoint set the contrast between a light
background with dark colored text or dark background with light colored text. Apply a
theme to add color and style to your presentation.
To earn and maintain the respect of your audience, always check the spelling and
grammar in your presentation.
Activity
Directions: Prepare a topic or lesson from your area of specialization then make a
power point presentation. Follow the steps in this lesson on how to create
an effective power point presentation.

Reminders
This module serve as basis for your performance in this subject. Treat this as one of your
important things you value and the same way you value yourself.
Academic dishonesty is highly discouraged. You may be tempted to do things instantly by
resorting to inappropriate methods but always remember that an honest person is best tested
when no one is watching.
This subject teaches you to become a good citizen especially in this time and we expect that
you will do everything to fulfill that goal. Hence, in this trying time, your resourcefulness and
coping mechanisms are so anticipated.
Always remember that you don’t have the monopoly of the burdens during this pandemic.
Always look at the other side and you will see us there waving at your submitted outputs and
preparing for the most challenging part-checking and assessing.
Refrain from posting your sentiments and complaints about the module online and avoid
using harsh word in messenger. There are things that are not for public consumption.
Only our official GC will serve as a platform for any discussion about the subject. Again only
ACADEMIC DISCUSSIONS are allowed.
You are expected to finish all the required task/outputs and submit them on or before
February 26.
Task and activities were prepared based on the competencies required, so you should
accomplish them with earnestness. Similarly, they were intentionally done to elicit critical and
reflective thinking, thus, extra effort is encouraged.
Kindly install Google Classroom (required) and any other apps like rapid scanner, or the
like (optional) for a more organized submission of outputs.
Since this module is given in soft copy, it is expected that you have to print it out (only if you
think it is more convenient for you). I know that some of you are not amenable to this due to
some financial reasons but it doesn’t cost much than your actual school expenses when there is no
pandemic. You are not required to print the entire module if your choose to; you may only
print the pages that contain the activities and tasks.
Rubrics for your written outputs are included. Please be guided accordingly.
This module is intended for YOUR use only.
Failure to follow any of the guidelines above will constitute deductions from your grade.
