Opioid Data For New Hanover County

New Hanover County has seen increasing rates of opioid overdoses and deaths in recent years. In 2021 there were 96 opioid deaths and 593 overdoses reported by EMS. From January to November 2022 there have already been 526 overdoses reported by EMS, averaging about 48 per month. The Coastal Horizons Quick Response Team has engaged with hundreds of individuals each year, connecting most to further care and following up frequently to help address the ongoing opioid crisis in the county.
