ADVOCACY FOR INDIGENOUS PEOPLE

WHAT WE AIM TO SOLVE

We, the Advocates for Indigenous People’s Rights, works to change systems and conditions that
cause Indigenous People’s Rights, improve laws and lives throughout the country, represent
individual victims of Indigenous People’s Rights violations, and fight injustice. The Advocates
develops partnerships and mobilizes volunteers to address some of the most pressing issues of
our time because we believe everyone has the power and responsibility to advance Indigenous
People’s Rights.  By engaging volunteers, The Advocates not only accomplishes critical research
and advocacy, it transforms them into advocates. We will help them and advocate to change
the systems that perpetuate those injustices. We will identify gaps in legal protections and
develop solutions. We will address the most intractable Indigenous People’s Rights issues. We
envision a society that promotes and defends indigenous people’s rights and upholds their self-
determined development.

OUR PROGRAM
We are very committed to improving Indigenous People’s Rights throughout this country. Our
Indigenous People’s Rights Program will work tirelessly on informing, educating, changing, and
fighting for the rights of Indigenous People. Indigenous individuals can’t choose their possess
way of life, get control over their own education, healthcare and so on, unless their lands are
secure. That’s the overwhelming priority. All other issues are auxiliary. On the off chance that
their land rights are recognized, tribal people groups flourish. If they’re not, the viewpoint is
disheartening. Without land, indigenous peoples have no livelihood, no identity, no means of
survival. We need to respect the principle of free, prior, and informed consent. Indigenous
people need to be consulted about the use of their land and included in development
processes.
