Compact Size
The most innovative of its kind
Four generations of innovation
In the early 1900s, Hatz Diesel made the
momentous decision to design and
manufacture their own internal combustion
engines. Starting with the first ground-
breaking diesel injection design in 1906 to
the first all-aluminum air-cooled diesel
engine in 1958, through todays fully
electronic product line-up. The story of
four generations of Hatz leadership is a
story of innovation.

The latest innovation from Hatz is the

Flywheel-Integrated Permanent Magnet
Generator (fiPMG). This efficient hybrid
solution is engineered for minimal
size and weight compared to
conventional generators.
Whether you require AC or DC the
fiPMG ensures consistent high-
power, in a compact, quiet, and
fuel-efficient package for a low
total cost of ownership. The E1
technology, which is at the
core of the fiPMG, provides
all necessary electronics for
maximum efficiency. Numerous
applications such as mini-
excavators, light towers, skid steers,
utility vehicles and more, will benefit
from these technologies. When size,
weight, and efficiency are critical,
Hatz Diesel offers solutions that are
four generations in the making.

“On the ignition side, we feel very
confident that we can [stand up] against
existing ignition technology and have
high reliability. The immediate reason for
that is that it’s all based on known solid-
state devices that have very long lifetimes,”
Singleton said.
“On the emissions side, it’s going to
be a little more work in the beginning
because you need to put time on those
aftertreatment systems to know what the
challenges are that are going to come up
on the physical device in the exhaust pipe.
We have no concerns about the power
supply, but what is happening in the
tailpipe, we need to explore. So again, that
just takes testing and a partner that can
put… thousands of hours on the engines
very quickly.
“From a technology perspective, we’ve
cleared most of the hurdles that… the
OEMs have set out. So, really, it’s about
commercialization at this point. It is
about locking in those commercialization
agreements and figuring out who are the
partners that are going to take this over
the finish line with us. That’s what comes
next for us.” DP

we’ve had over the years.”
All of this can help ease an OEM’s
transition to alternative power. “A lot
of OEMs are just starting the journey,”
Griffin noted. “They’re taking their
existing hydraulic system and they’re
doing things to electrify it. By which I
mean they’re making as few changes to

In such cases, the Configured ePump
