OFFICE ORDER
It has commonly been observed that the students are indulging in mass absentecism,
specifically during hiring period for internship and placement, a week prior to Mid Term
and End Term Examinations and during the cultural/technical festivals. Mass absenteeism
is an alarming situation for all stakeholders of the University. The Competent Authority has
taken a serious view of the matter and has directed following measures to come in force
with immediate effect to curb the mass absenteeism:

Action: Academic Departments
1. Bach academic department should maintain a register to record mass bunks by the
students and the HODs should ensure that all faculty members enter the details of
their scheduled classes (L/T/P) bunked by the students. Also, while computing
percentage attendance of the students all mass bunked hours should be included in
the denominator. The HODs should ensure that the students are intimated in this
regard prior to commencement of each semester.
If student is on leave for a period more than three working days, he/she should
submit leave applications duly signed by the parents/ guardians with valid proofs for
the period of absence to the concerned HODs immediately after joining back. The
students of first year shall submit applications at Academic (UG) Section, No leave
applications should be considered after notification of shortage of attendance.
3, Each department should constitute a scrutiny committee for examination of leave
applications submitted by the students. This committee should conduct meeting
twice in a semester to scrutinize the applications,
4. All the faculty members should maintain attendance record of all components
(L/T/P) of their respective courses and submit a list of students having less than
75% attendance to their respective HODs and the same should be notified to the
students of their respective classes.
5. The HODs should send a compiled (j) list of students having less than 75%
attendance in all courses and (i) list of students for whom the leave is approved by
Ayp the scrutiny committee of the respective departments along with the period of leave
to the office of Dean (UG) as per timeline notified in academic calendar. At the end of
®5- the semester prior to notification of attendance shortage this period of leave may be
9 accounted for within the provision of regulation R.1(B).22 by the office of Dean UG.

7*aavance. The topics covered till last class prior to commencement of Mid-Term

7. In class work sessional (CWS) 5 marks may be designated to attendance and should
be awarded to only those students having more than 75%. No medical / leave
applications should be considered for this component.

‘8. Registration of students and timetable for forthcoming semester should be completed
by the end of current semester.
9. Annual calendar of Cultural/ Technical activities should be notified by the office of
Dean Student Welfare in consultation with Dean (UG) and Dean (PG) in the beginning
of each academic year. The technical, cultural and literary festivals should beses would remain suspended

11-The hiring activities for summer internships/ placements should be so initiated that
these do not extend beyond mid August and mid January in odd and even semesters
respectively. Further, the written tests for the same should be held on Saturdays and
‘Sundays or in evening hours on working days.
