Simulation Activity

PROJECTILE MOTION

Name (FN, GN, MI.) Score:

Section:

Procedure:

Part A: Cannon Elevated at 10 m:

With the cannon gun elevated at 10 m, the launch velocity at 15 m/s, and a human (an acrobat) as
the cannon ball, set the launch angle at 0º (cannon is horizontal), then fire. Observe the height and
horizontal displacement. Do not erase this.
Then, repeat the procedure adjusting the angle to 30º. 45º, -30º (below the horizontal axis) and
90º (cannon is vertical) and observe what will happen to the vertical and horizontal displacement of the
cannon ball. Compare the results with each other. You may use descriptive words like same as, greater
than, less than, etc. NO NEED to give numerical values. You will have something like this:

After completing the 5 trials, take a screenshot of your activity. Upload this screen shot as page 2
or your output.

Part B: Cannon at 0 m elevation

Next, you vary the height of the cannon platform from 10 m to 0 m and repeat what you have
done in part A except that you should start with the angle at 25º. Then 30º and so. Your screen may look
like this.

After completing the 5 trials, take a screenshot of your activity. Upload this screen shot as page 2
of your output, together with the screenshot for Part A.

CONCLUSION:
Write your conclusion by answering this question: Would the launching angle by which a
projectile is fired affect the height to which it rises? The horizontal displacement? Explain your answer in
3 – 6 complete sentences.
