There are different varieties of a computer crime, in this essay I will provide three (3) of
the most common computer crime and discuss its examples of organizations that were
impacted by each type of crime, elaborate on how the impact of computer crime is quantified
in these situations. These computer crimes include, Cyberstalking, Cyber harassment, and
Cyberbullying.
When it comes to Cyberstalking this has been a problem by a lot of people where the
perpetrator can easily target a victim and do cyberstalking. This causes alarm to the victim
which can sometimes lead to threats by the perpetrator. A cyber stalker does not pick who it
will target next, it could be a teenager, or even a grandmother. This affects the daily process of
a person and needs to be stopped by the law.
In terms of Cyber Harassment, this has affected a lot including businesses, or even a
child. This is has become a problem for a cyber harasser can harass the victim to get what it
wants, either it be money, personal details, or even in sexual terms. When it comes to
businesses, cyber harassers can harass the company and loot money from them by doing some
blockmaking, and even faking that they have the company’s information ready to spill. This
cybercrime affects a lot of people, and still going to this day, the law has provided its duty in
order to stop this kind of crime.
The last one would be, Cyberbullying. This is one of the most widely known cybercrime
to this date. Cyber bullies mainly target those who they have problems with, mostly exposing
pictures, videos, or messages which somehow does not have a validity but still inflicts damage
to the victim. By exposing this type of things, they cause stress and sometimes leads to
depression on the target, much worst is suicide. A cyber bully mostly hide in an anonymous
account, that’s why they are hard to detect, but with the use of technology their IP address can
be located. By means of the law, anyone who violates or do the act of cyberbullying shall be
punished. Cyberbullying has inflicted damage to a lot of people, even caused someone to
commit suicide, this is a serious crime, therefore has a serious punishment as well.
To summarize all these computer crimes, this crime has caused none but damage to the
target, it has affected a lot of lives, and still continue to do so. Nonetheless, these crimes have
counter that punishes the perpetrator. No person deserves to be attacked at their peace, that’s
why being cyber secured is important in today’s life.
