In paragraph format, explain the difference between an ACL,

which is used in routers to block traffic and firewalls, and a

VPN. What similarities do they share?

The difference between ACL, which is used in routers to block traffic and firewalls and a
VPN is that, ACL is used in a variety of matching traffic that needs to be encrypted in the VPN
tunnel. It also processes the acceptance or denial of an incoming and outgoing connection
which are needed to filter the unwanted VPN connections. VPN in the other hand is a network
that protects a user’s internet connection when browsing online, it provides security by
encrypting the data of a user, and by securing the identity of the Internet Protocol by hiding it.
By this means, a user can securely brows the internet whenever, and wherever because the IP
address being used browsing the internet is not the actual IP address of the device, that is the
function when using a VPN.
When it comes to the similarities between ACL, and VPN, both entities can allow, and deny
the traffic that is needed to be filtered in the network. Both are used for the security purposes of
the user when browsing the internet, and also to protect the data and information that are
vulnerable for a data breach and can be penetrated by an unknown cybercriminal.
