B.

Spaces/technical requirements

1. Passenger Loading - is an area next to a curb or edge of the road


designated for a vehicle's exclusive usage when loading or
unloading passengers

2. Gate Lounge- are typically found in terminals set up as satellite


buildings or with long finger piers and are frequently supplied as
gathering places for travelers in transition from the main departure
lounge and the aircraft.

3. Baggage Handling- moves passenger bags from a check-in station at a


departure airport to a plane's cargo hold and then to a collecting
location at an arrival. A baggage handling system (BHS) is composed of
many procedures and inspections. A BHS is made to automatically
count bags, weigh them, balance loads, scan them for security, carry
them through an airport's conveyor belt system, and read their
information.

4. Security Facility- encompasses the strategies and procedures


employed to safeguard travelers, employees, aircraft, and
airport assets against deliberate injury, crime, terrorism, and
other dangers. To protect civil aviation from acts of
unauthorized interference, aviation security consists of a
combination of policies, procedures, and material and human
resources. Acts of terrorism, sabotage, threats against people
or property, spreading false alarms, bombing, etc. are
examples of unlawful interference.
5. Medical and First-Aid Center- Major airports have paramedics, ambulances, and life-sustaining
equipment for first aid and to rush gravely ill or injured patients to hospitals, but they usually
aren't set up for lesser ailments.

6. Nursery Rooms and Breastfeeding- This area also offers a


breastfeeding booth, diaper changing station, wash basin, and
hot water. Male guests can use all but the breastfeeding
booth. Nurseries are available throughout each terminal.

7. Convenient Access Systems- Security has always been of


paramount importance in airport operations. It must include
passenger safety, streamlining of boarding, and the management
of staff and tracking. An airport access control system must
enable effective tracking, monitoring, security, secure passenger
identification, smooth cargo flow, vehicle management, etc.

8. International Language Systems- the default


language of international aviation worldwide
is English, although local languages are used
concurrently for RTF communications, even
in busy and complex operational
environments. Sometimes this practice is
‘justified’ on a local level by the reasoning
that it avoids possible misunderstandings
when addressing local specifics and
facilitates the speed of the communication
process with the native flight crews.
9. Telephone Communication Center- This is
communications work at the full performance level
providing a variety of telephone communication,
maintenance dispatch or security information services in a large hub international airport for
airport personnel, tenants, passengers, and the general public. An employee in this class, on an
assigned shift, operates communications and computerized information systems equipment
answering, receiving, and transmitting messages of emergency and non-emergency nature and
recording, inputting and/or programming messages received.

10. Amenities such as:


a. Money Changer and Automated Teller- Money Changer, an area
designated for currency change. An automated teller machine (ATM)
is an electronic banking outlet that allows customers to complete
basic transactions without the aid of a branch representative or teller.

b. Business Center, Internet Centers, and Fax Facilities- a place


providing office facilities and services. Internet center is a retail
establishment that rents computers by the hour. Fax (short for
facsimile), sometimes called telecopying or telefax (the latter short
for telefacsimile), is the telephonic transmission of scanned printed
material (both text and images), normally to a telephone number
connected to a printer or other output device.

c. Camera Shop, Photo Developing, and Instant Photos- Photography


shop means a retail establishment that sells photography
equipment, materials, and related supplies such as photo albums
and frames, and which may also provide instruction and classes in
photography.

d. Car Rental Agency- A car rental, hire car or car hire agency is a
company that rents automobiles for short periods of time to
the public, generally ranging from a few hours to a few weeks.
e. Cocktail Lounge- a facility intended for preparation, sale, and service of liquor.

f. Mini Grocery Store and News Stand- What is mini grocery store?
When people are looking for specialty foods or ingredients that can't
be found at the corner store or neighborhood supermarket, they
typically head to small grocers, also called mini-grocery stores. Such
retail establishments sell food and items that are uncommon or not
carried by bigger stores News stand is a place where newspapers and
magazines are sold.

g. Food Shops, Cafeteria, Employee Cafeteria- means a building or portion


of a building used or constructed or adapted to be used for the sale and
display of goods in conjunction with a food business, excluding any part
thereof used or intended to be used as a food preparation area,
scullery, storage area, or changeroom

h. Hotel Information Center- means information collected and


maintained by Manager in connection with its operation and
management of the Hotels pursuant to this Agreement,
regardless of the form or medium involved (e.g., paper,
electronic, disc, tape, etc.), including without limitation, books of
account, guest records, customer lists, front office records and
other records relating to, or reflecting the operation of, the
Hotels.
i. Passenger Assistance Counter- Before the flight, our staff at the
counter may request verification of your special assistance
needs, usually in the form of a checklist or medical clearance. If
you are found to be medically unfit to fly or do not comply with
our safety guidelines, Cathay Pacific reserve the right to refuse
carriage. We will of course do our best to refund your travel
ticket either partially or, where possible, in full.
j. Restrooms with Diaper Changer Facility- a room equipped
with one or more toilets and sinks for public use. baby
changing facilities means a room used for changing baby
diaper

k. Smoking Rooms/ Areas- a smoking room (or smoking lounge) is a


room which is specifically provided and furnished for smoking,
generally in buildings where smoking is otherwise prohibited.

l. Gift Shop/ Souvenir Shop- is a store primarily selling souvenirs,


memorabilia, and other items relating to a particular topic or
theme. The items sold often include coffee mugs, stuffed
animals, toys, t-shirts, postcards, handmade collections, and
other souvenirs, intended to be kept by the buyer as a
memento of their visit, or given to another as a gift. Gift shops
are normally found in areas visited by many tourists.

m. Telephone Booths/ Paging Counters- is a place in a public


building where there is a phone that can be used by the public.
A well-designed overhead paging system should provide clear
intelligible communications throughout a facility. From simple
paging to Emergency Message notification a paging system is an
integral.
n. Television Lounge- a room in a hotel, guest house, etc. where
guests may watch television.

o. Travel Insurance Office- is portion of a


building that is designated for travel.
insurance is coverage designed to protect
against risks and financial losses that could
happen while traveling. The risks range from
minor inconveniences such as missed airline
connections and delayed luggage all the way
to more serious issues including injuries or major illness.

p. VIP Lounge- means those Exclusive Premises


used by Airline to provide premium services to its
passengers.

11. Internal Communication System- refer to an organization’s


core communication system, its tools and processes used to
share information.

12. Parking Lot- A parking lot (American English) or car


park (British English), also known as a car lot, is a
cleared area intended for parking vehicles. The term
usually refers to an area dedicated only for parking, with
a durable or semi-durable surface. In most countries
where cars are the dominant mode of transportation,
parking lots are a feature of every city and suburban
area. Shopping malls, sports stadiums, megachurches, and similar venues often have immense
parking lots.

13. Aircraft Parking Area- Aircraft Parking Area


means that area of the Airport to be used for
aircraft parking and storage space for the
parking and storing of aircraft, or for the
servicing of aircraft with fuel, lubricants, and
other supplies, or for making emergency repairs
to aircraft, or for any or all such purposes.

14. Utility, Power Station etc.- Power utility means


any facility engaged or that may engage, inside or
outside the state, in generating, transmitting, or
distributing or furnishing electricity.

15. Landscaping and Expansion- Landscape area


means all the planting areas, turf areas, and water
features in a landscape design plan subject to the
Maximum Applied Water Allowance calculation.
The landscape area does not include footprints of
buildings or structures, sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, decks, patios, gravel or stone walks,
other pervious or non-pervious hardscapes, and other non-irrigated areas designated for non-
development (e.g., open spaces and existing native vegetation).
