File Management Assessment

Instructions for setting up the exam:

1. The exam folder accompanying this exam contains subfolders.  It is clearly indicated
which folder contains subfolders which are to be copied on the hard disk, and which
folder contains subfolders which are to be copied on to the USB stick/floppy disk which
will be given to each learner

2. Ensure that the folder Letters  is copied on to My Documents folder of each
learner.  

3. Each learner should be given a USB stick/floppy disk.  

4. You need to copy the contents of the folder called USB-floppydisk folders on to
each one of these. (ie: copy the folders called Bank Letters, Family Letters, Work
Letters  and Scrap as well as the file John Letter) on to the USB stick for each learner.

The instructions that follow refer to USB sticks. You may need to change it if they are
still using floppy disks.

5. These folders contain everything the learner needs to complete the exam.

File Management Assessment

1. Start up your computer and open Windows Explorer.

2. On your USB stick, copy the file Overdraft.doc in the Bank Letters folder and

call it Nohope.doc.

3. Copy the file Nohope.doc into the folder called Scrap.

4. Copy the file John letter.doc into the folder called Letters in your My

Documents folder.

5. Rename the file called Mother in the Family Letters folder to Mum.

6. Delete the file called Promotion Request from the Work Letters folder.

7. Move the file called Father.doc  to the folder called Scrap.

8. Open the Letters folder in your My Documents folder.  Create a folder called

Hold.

9. Delete the folder called More Letters.

10. Find the file Sister which is on your USB stick, and answer the questions about

that file.

11. Create a new folder called Copied Files in your My Documents folder

12. Copy the entire contents of your USB stick into the Copied Files folder.

13. Leave Windows Explorer and shut down your computer.
