GOOGLE GLASS

Google Glass was a wearable computer with an optical head-mounted display (OHMD) that was
developed and produced by Google. It was designed to be worn like a pair of glasses, with a
small display that sat just above the wearer's right eye. The display could be used to show
information, such as messages, maps, and other notifications, and the device could be controlled
using voice commands or a touchpad located on the side of the frame.

Google Glass was first announced in 2012 and was released to a select group of testers, known as
"Explorers," in 2013. However, the device was met with mixed reactions and faced criticism for
its high price tag and privacy concerns. In 2015, Google announced that it was discontinuing the
Glass project, though it has continued to work on other augmented reality and wearable
technology projects.

Despite the discontinuation of Google Glass, the device has had a significant impact on the tech
industry. It was one of the first mainstream examples of wearable computing and helped to pave
the way for the development of other devices in this space, such as smartwatches and augmented
reality headsets.
Google Glass also sparked a debate about the potential benefits and drawbacks of wearable
technology and the ethical considerations that come with it. On the one hand, wearable devices
like Google Glass have the potential to improve productivity and make certain tasks easier. For
example, doctors and surgeons have used the device to access patient records and other
information during procedures, and workers in manufacturing and other industries have used it to
access instructions and other data while on the job.

On the other hand, there are concerns about the privacy implications of wearable devices like
Google Glass. The device's camera and display raised concerns about the potential for
surreptitious recording and the collection of personal data. There were also concerns about the
impact of the device on social interactions, with some people feeling uncomfortable about being
constantly monitored or recorded.

Overall, while Google Glass may not have been a commercial success, it remains an important
and influential example of wearable technology and has helped to shape the conversation around
the role of such devices in society.
