Guidelines to Write a Clinical Case Report

A clinical case report is a detailed report of the patient’s condition, signs and symptoms, diagnosis,
treatment and follow-up. This clinical report describes unusual or novel occurrence of the case.

The E3 clinical case report structure consists of several parts as explained below.

1. Title: Title should be made under 12 words

2. Author(s) and Location:
Please mention all the person that involved in the submitted case. The responsible author
should be written first before the other author(s). The location should be written after the
name of the author(s).
3. Dental Clinic’s Name:
Write the name of the clinic that the responsible dentist belongs to.
4. Tag:
Tags are chosen based on the field of specialty of the submitted case. Tag can be
5. Abstract:
The abstract should be up to 350 words in length. No references should be mentioned in this
section, and please minimize the use of abbreviations.
The abstract must consist of a brief case presentation, treatment plan, outcome, and
conclusions.
6. Keywords
Three to five keywords represent the main idea of the article.
7. Case Presentation
Case presentation should include the patient’s demography, chief complaint, sign and
symptoms, and medical history. Please hide any detailed identity of the patient and only
mention age and gender. As for additional requirements, please make sure that the patient
signed the consent form before submitting the article.

8. Treatment Plan
Describe all the treatments planned to cure the patient in detail.
9. Treatment Progress
Explain all the progress from the beginning. Please elaborate on the difficulties during
treatment and solutions to solve the problem.
10. Outcomes
Elaborate on all the outcomes achieved using the treatment, and please also mention
follow-up conditions post-treatment.
Upload the post-treatment photos of the patient.
11. Conclusion
Write the summary of the case.
12. Special Notes
Write all the particular things to pay attention to and your suggestion for similar cases.
