The Opportunity

Are you an experienced Project Professional or possess key project delivery skills that could be applied to
Project Management? If so, there are a number of pivotal opportunities to provide strategic focus to the
Defuelling function within the wider Waste and Decommissioning business units.  We are keen to hear from
individuals who possess the right behaviours to manage complex, technical projects, so if you are currently
working in Project Management of believe that you have the core skills to apply we want to hear from you.  These
roles will only be Barnwood based due to the requirements of the project.

The scope of such Projects is to support delivery of new capabilities, realise business level benefits and meet the
requirements of the Decommissioning Plan Submission 2020.
The Role
The Project Manager will be responsible for identifying, implementing and complying with applicable company
safety, environmental, and quality, procedures and policy, and relevant legislative and regulatory, requirements in
addition to the following;
 
1. Establishing the baseline Scope, Quality, Schedule and Cost for their project(s) and ensuring that the
business planning submissions, including the ALR2, DPS, DPP and Medium-Term Plan (MTP) and other
company reporting tools accurately reflect the Project position.
2. Leading an Integrated Project Team to deliver fit for purpose solutions in a safe manner to meet or better
the Project baseline cost, schedule and quality requirements.
3. Effectively coordinating the individual Projects of the Programme’s Projects Dossier including any intra-
and extra- Programme interdependencies within the Defuelling, ND and wider portfolios
4. Securing the required resources to meet their project requirements, ensuring the maintenance of SQEP for
any assigned resource and promptly identifying any personnel
5. Developing and conducting effective execution strategies and plans to meet the overall Project objectives.
6. Ensuring that effective project change control is implemented when significant changes to project scope,
schedule or cost are identified.
7. Using the Corrective Action Programme (CAP), Operating Experience (OpEx) and Lessons Learnt
Methodology (LLM) processes to capture and promulgate learning 
8. Carrying out effective Stakeholders management and communication regarding project performance,
issues/concerns, and risks through the required reporting mechanisms.
9. Leading and coaching their project team to maximise efficient and effective delivery, in a safe and timely
manner, of fit for purpose solutions which meet or better the project baseline cost, schedule and quality
requirements.
10. Ensuring the relevant project risks and issues are identified and managed/mitigated as appropriate. This
includes regular monitoring of the residual risks.
11. Jointly developing procurement strategies for their Project with the Supply Chain and Engineering and,
where appropriate, other key stakeholders.
12. May execute the role of Contract Manager (BEG/RTP/PRO/002) as defined in the Acquire Goods and
Services (AGS) Company Processfor their assigned contracts.
13. Ensure compliance of the project and project team with all Project and Programme Office Procedures and
where necessary educating their teams as to the requirements.
14. Ensure early involvement of the construction team to ensure “constructability” of the design; in conjunction
with Construction Manager, Supply Chain lead and wider project team, develop construction contracts/field
execution strategies.
The Skills
You will typically be degree educated ideally in Engineering or an equivalent qualification in an appropriate
discipline with appropriate level of knowledge and experience in Project Management  (APMQ or equivalent).

Able to demonstrate experience and use of Office IT packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and industry
planning tools and proficient in the use of estimating, scheduling, programming and risk tools to include the use
of Earned Value Analysis.

Familiar with HSE and CDM legislation, able to demonstrate experience of managing projects throughout the full
project lifecycle, ideally across a range of complex multi-discipline projects and environments.
Management of an integrated project team including staff, agency, contract and assigned functional support with
evidence of working within environments with high quality and safety standards & culture.

Demonstrate success in managing and developing:

a.    Engineering design, safety case, contract, and field execution strategies for project delivery.
b.    Large multi-discipline projects.
c.    Large complex multi-discipline contracts and the tender review process.
d.    Control of costs and change.
e.    Close out of commercial claims and the associated negotiations.
f.     Front end design and development of solutions.
g.    The design / construction interface to ensure a smooth transition / handover and how to address the issues
which occur at this interface

Competitive Salary & Benefits


The salary range is between £36,175 and £77,677, with terms and conditions covered by the EDF Energy
Nuclear Generation Company Agreement.  The starting salary for this appointment will be dependent of your
existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.  You will receive 28 days annual holiday plus bank
holidays, incremental and competency-based progression and a Company pension scheme.
