RPA Chairman of the High Command Paul Kagame

addressing RPA soldiers during the Liberation Struggle
in 1992, Mukarange

The values that characterised our

liberation are still important today.
We should all strive for our common
good and not only individual benefit.
Those in service should understand
that they all serve Rwandans and are
accountable to them.

H.E President Paul Kagame, Commander-in-Chief,

Message on Kwibohora26 Celebrations.
BACKGROUND

This year marks the 27th anniversary of the Liberation – Kwibohora27, an important
milestone in Rwanda’s history.

In the aftermath of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi and the Liberation war, Rwandans
made three important choices: we chose to stay together, to be accountable and to
think big. These decisions have been at the core of the country’s ongoing renewal.
Under the theme “Together We Prosper”, Kwibohora27 is an opportunity to share this
story and tell the world about Rwanda’s vision for a peaceful, united, prosperous and
self-reliant nation.

Every year Rwanda Defence Force in partnership with government institutions is involved
in a number of socio-economic development projects across the country.
