LGBTQ people are the source of HIV and AIDS

transmission

SEKOLAH DIAN HARAPAN

MANADO
2022
Background =
HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) is a virus that damages the immune system by
infecting and destroying CD4 cells. HIV will make the body more susceptible to bacteria that
can cause other diseases. HIV can be transmitted through the patient's bodily fluids, such as
blood, sperm, vaginal fluids, anal fluids, and breast milk. HIV is not transmitted through air,
water, sweat, tears, saliva, mosquito bites, or physical touch. People with HIV will get HIV
for the rest of their lives. HIV cannot be cured, but there are drugs that can slow the
progression of this disease and increase the life expectancy of sufferers. AIDS is caused by a
virus called HIV, or the Human Immunodeficiency Virus. If we are infected with HIV, our
body will try to attack the infection. Our immune system will make "antibodies," special
molecules that attack HIV.

ARGUMENT 1 =
HIV is mostly caused by LGBTQ people and free sex. LGBTQ stands for lesbian, gay,
bisexual, transgender, and queer. This is very influential, because the more people who suffer
from sexually transmitted diseases, the higher the number of people affected by HIV and
AIDS. Based on kemkes.go.id, the number of people living with HIV was reported as being
as high as 7,650 out of 810,846 people tested for HIV, and as many as 6,762 people received
ARV treatment. And the age group of 30-39 years is the group with the highest percentage of
AIDS (36%), followed by the age group of 20-29 years (29%), and the age group of 40-49
years (19%).

ARGUMENT 2 =
The five provinces with the highest number of PLWHA were DKI Jakarta (71,473),
followed by East Java (65,274), West Java (46,996), Central Java (39,978), and Papua
(39,419). This shows that there are already many people affected by HIV and AIDS in
Indonesia. Even though they have been educated, this still happens in Indonesia and even
throughout the world, and one of the main causes is LGBTQ and free sex. As conveyed to
Kemkes.go.id, the most significant risk factors for transmission are through sexual
intercourse at risk for heterosexuals (70.1%), homosexuals (8.2%), sharing of injecting
equipment (7.9%), and transmission through perinatal tissue (2.8%).

ARGUMENT 3 =
What supports our argument against free sex and LGBTQ causes is that the number of
AIDS reports from 2005 to 2021 tends to increase. And the cumulative number of people
with AIDS from 1987 to March 2021 was 131,147. There is an AIDS prevalence of up to
59% in men and 33% in women. Meanwhile, 8% did not specify their gender. This is very
dangerous because every year the number of people affected by this disease increases, even
though they have been educated, and there are still additional people infected with HIV or
AIDS.
Reorientation =
So, what we can conclude based on our three arguments above is that the cause of the
spread of HIV and AIDS is mostly free sex and the LGBTQ community. This is also caused
by the lack of education for people in Indonesia and even around the world. However, it is
also possible that people who do not practice free sex or identify as LQBTQ do not get HIV
and AIDS. And if you have been exposed to the disease, it requires serious treatment even
though it cannot be cured until now, but it can suppress the amount of virus in the body by
taking ARV drugs. Hopefully, a cure for this disease can be found, and hopefully the
Indonesian people will get education so they can avoid this disease.
