Learning Outcomes [ASSURE (State Objectives)]
After reading a text (Condition), a whole class of 9th graders (Audience) will create a timeline of the events they
read (Behavior) with 100% accuracy.
After attending the lesson (Condition), 9th grade students (Audience) will identify the vocabulary they previously
learned and answer reading comprehension questions (Behavior) with at least 90% accuracy (Degree).
Instructional Materials & Media [ASSURE (Select Strategies, Technology, Media and Materials)]
In warming up, the teacher will use the board to write some questions.
In presentation part, Prezi presentation will be used to teach vocabulary.
In activity part, handout papers will be used for reading.
In measurement section, Google survey tool will be used for measurement.
Learning-Teaching Methods [ASSURE (Select Strategies, Technology, Media and Materials)]
In the warm-up the discussion method will be used as students will answer personal questions and make a
general idea about the topic.
At the start, teach will use grammar-translation method to teach vocabulary. Dictionary meanings will be
given together with example sentences. Students could also express/find the Turkish translation of the word, as
educators now accept 1st language is helpful in second language learning. Teacher centered presentation
strategy is useful here.
During the activity, cooperative learning will be implemented as students will be in groups reading and
understanding the text. The second stage cooperation is for the whole class as they bring up the pieces of the
text together.
Teaching Activities [ASSURE (Utilize Technology, Media, and Materials and Require Learner Participation)]
The teacher will be asking the questions and providing the discussion environment in the warm up. the teacher
requires the learners’ participation. The teacher’s duty in the presentation is showing the words, meanings,
right pronunciations, example sentences through online presentation. The handout materials will be
distributed by the teacher and teacher will explain and control the reading activity. While groups are
discussing, he/she will walk around and answer the questions.
The last activity will be answering comprehension questions which asks for individual attention.
Individual Learning Activities The measurement at the end as students will answer
comprehension questions about the text separately.
Group Learning Activities The discussion at the start about what do they know
about historical places, where do they want to visit,
etc.

Summary
The discussion at the start is a continuation of the topic and shows the unit’s content about world heritages.
The lesson is about the adjectives describing the environment. Students see exemplary sentences. The activity
is seeing those adjectives in use and figuring out the meaning. Another important part is learning the parts and
the whole of a text, their characteristics, and how to recognize them. It’s about their understanding of piece-
whole relationship of a text. Survey is an individual attention test to see how they listened and understand the
text.
Measurement & Evaluation
Measurement will be based on a test that employs multiple choice, T/F, filing the blank space questions. Fee
answers could take long time, so students will fill out the online survey to show how much they understand the
text. Since they learnt the text in groups, they will feed on each other’s knowledge.

Explanation
The survey one is official, and the reading part is an unofficial measurement to see how much they learnt.
Explanation regarding to the implementation of the plan
After teacher greets the class, she asks introduction questions at the beginning of the unit about travel and the
world. Then the teacher shows new vocabulary on smart board presentation and repeat it two times. ıf the
teacher cannot use the online source, she will write the vocabulary and example sentences on the board. She
explains the reading activity and divides the class into groups. Groups take time to discuss the meaning of their
excerpt and in which order it is. After, the whole class explain out loud the meaning and their thoughts about
its place. They have a small controlled discussion, and after piecing the text together, the teacher gives a
summary. In the end, students take a comprehension test about the text. If students can’t reach the test, the
teacher will send it via email to do it until evening and send it to her.
