Although personal protective equipment (PPE) is one of the best lines of protection against hazardous
exposures, many healthcare workers either shun this protective apparel or do not wear it in an appropriate
manner at the appropriate time.

In order to generate effective solutions for the problem with 8 or 27% of nurses who didn’t follow the
PPE Protocol in the hospital. The immediate causes, underlying causes and root causes of the said problems
were analyzed using the problem tree.

The immediate causes of non- participative behaviour among the nurses are not following the
standards PPE because of Difficulty in verbal communications and interactions with patients and family
members, unable to work properly to those nurses wearing eye glasses then using n95 mask and goggles
because of the moist coming from it.

Attributed to not following PPE protocols, because of physiological burden like having an allergy or
tactile sensitivity to gloves and inability to breathe using surgical mask, most especially using n95 mask.

Another reason was uncomfortable to wear, it is unattractive because it is not common for us, and it is
too hot to wear.
