Inspired by a popular Mexican breakfast, this spicy Latin piece will surely help your students start their
day off right. Easy syncopated rhythms and a catchy melody will have the audience wanting a sec-
ond helping!

The main melody begins at measure 5, and it is important that the violin and violas play the articulation
as marked measures 7 & 9. Also, remind the students of the “bow lift” before the notes that have down
bow symbols above them.

REPRODUCTION
The cellos and basses begin this piece by playing a syncopated pattern that repeats continually. Have
them play and repeat the first two measures of the music until they are comfortable with the syncopa-
tion.

The rhythm in measures 21- 23 can be tricky, therefore, I suggest having the entire group clap the

rhythm first before playing it. The rhythmic pattern in measures 21-24 is repeated (with slight variations)
again in measures 25-28 and 29-32.
