The dynamic levels and tempos suggested may be adjusted to the abilities of the student musicians.
The score has been carefully marked but may be changed if desired. For instance, the first ending can
be optional and may be omitted for a shorter rendition. At measure 21, the score is marked animato,
but this can be omitted as well, keeping the tempo constant throughout. For more advanced groups,
the tempo may be increased at the repeat after the first ending to measure 120. Then, at measure
27, ritard to the original tempo, progressing on to the second ending.

Note from the editor

All Belwin string parts have been carefully bowed and fingered appropriately by level. The Yellow
Very Beginning series includes many bowings as well as reminder fingerings for first-time readers.
The Red Beginning series includes frequent bowings to assist younger players. Fingerings for altered
pitches are often marked. The Green Intermediate series includes appropriately placed bowings for
middle-level students. Fingerings and positions are marked for notes beyond first position. The Blue
Concert series includes bowings appropriate for the experienced high school player. Fingerings and
position markings are indicated for difficult passages.
