• In sorghum Advanced Yield trial, 19 entries were tested
against one check, NTJ-2 for yield and its attributing
characters. 5 entries were observed to be significantly
superior in grain and fodder yield over check variety, NTJ-
2.
Advanced • The entry NJ-2659 and NJ-2647 recorded highest grain

• The entries NJ- 2668, NJ- 2655, NJ-2661, NJ-2665 and NJ-

yield (7840 kg/ha – 9414 kg/ha) over check variety, NTJ-2
(6050 kg/ha).

• In Sorghum Multilocation Trial, Six entries were evaluated


in RBD with four replications during rabi 2017-18 under
rainfed condition.

Among the progenies studied in F4 generation, the cross
combinations, ICSB 296 x ICSB 1400, ICSR 94407 x ICSR
94374 and RS 627 x RS 673 had recorded low % stem borer
infested plants with less number of larvae and minimum length
of damage.

• There was no significant difference among the

• Significantly higher net returns (Rs.32203/ha) and
benefit-cost ratio (2.24) was recorded with T7 - RDF
+ Enriched FYM 4 [50 kg FYM/ha + 15 kg ZnSO4/ha]
+ [50 kg FYM/ha + 15 kg FeSO4/ha] because of low
cost of FYM as compared to vermi-compost.

of atrazine @ 0.5 kg a.i/ha at 25 DAS).
Influence of rotary strip tiller on soil moisture and performance of
sorghum in Scarce Rainfall Zone, Andhra Pradesh

Objective:
To study the effect of tillage practices on soil moisture and
sorghum in Scarce Rainfall Zone, Andhra Pradesh

T1: Conventional tillage (ploughing with tractor drawn
cultivator fb ploughing with tractor drawn rotowater and
levelling)

T2: Zero tillage (harvesting of previous crop stubbles with


rotary strip tiller, thereafter immediate spraying of paraquat
