REQUIREMENTS This work uniform and attire will replace the

FOR UNIFORM usage of private clothing, reducing bacterial load

on the hands and preventing the spread of
infection.

A uniform is also an excellent idea in these times

of COVID. Uniforms serve as a protective apron
that can be removed and washed once the
employee has left the premises, preventing the
spread of any virus.

SECONDARY RESEARCH A CLOSER LOOK AT SAMPLE
COLLECTION AT HOME

A doctor orders lab tests to diagnose, treat, manage, or monitor a patient's

condition, and the patient chooses to have them performed at home. This can
be done by booking a test online or ordering one over the phone. The
procedure starts with the collection of a blood sample, which is then submitted
to a laboratory to be individually identified and analysed to ensure that it is
suitable for the testing requested by the health care practitioner.

The technique for collecting and managing samples is critical to achieving

accurate and quick laboratory test findings. Samples must be collected by a
phlebotomist or technician using good technique, using proper containers,
correctly labelled (in the presence of the patient), and transferred to the
laboratory as soon as possible.

AT OUR H OM E F OR A BE T T E R UN D E RS T AN D IN G
First, we visited our nearby Dr. Lal PathLabs and asked around questions to have
an understanding how the lab works.

DIRECT SURVEY:
Second, we booked an appointment for an executive to come to our home for a test
and meanwhile also to understand their uniform, and other accessories. We also got
to know their problems and their wants.
REPORT
1. Uniform:

They wear blue and black/grey pants which according to

them are still subjected to a lot of dust leading to improper
look, hygiene issues, and personal issues

They wear a head cap, mask, gloves which usually comes

with the kit. All the items are disposable.

They feel there is a lack of pockets to keep items and cash in

a more appropriate way.

There's a requirement for more breathable, anti-stain

materials.
09
REPORT
2. Bag:

A big problem for them is waste disposal. After taking the test
they just put all the disposable things (gloves, used injection
etc) in the side pockets of the bag and they have to throw them
at the end of their shift.
There is a need for a proper location in the bag for the same,
something more hygienic.
The current bag's shape is useful but there is a need for various
pockets and compartments (some open pockets and some

09
having a closure.
The bag is very bulky and some advancements would be useful.
General issue- money transfer is a bit hectic.
Our
understanding
and
interpretation
of the
requirements
After a lot of brainstorming,
meetings, changes, we have

10 come up with the following

designs and features:
FEATURES
(REQUIREMENTS FOR HOME COLLECTION FIELD EXECUTIVES) 10
The uniform includes:
Because of the physical nature of the job, Dr Lal Pathlab's field executives are subjected to a lot
of outdoors.
The new uniforms designed by us are breathable, durable and lightweight, helping executives stay
cool when the temperature and the humidity rise.
The uniforms have fabrics that allow a better range of motion and are designed with moisture-
wicking fibres so drivers can combat sweat and remain dry and comfortable throughout the day.
There is a provision of various pockets in jacket and pants which are designed very meticulously
in accordance to the needs.
FEATURES
(REQUIREMENTS FOR HOME COLLECTION FIELD EXECUTIVES)

THE UNIFORM INCLUDES:

Taking into account the issues that sample collectors confront, we have produced a uniform that
emphasises the addition of pockets, making it easier for them to keep their belongings
organised without difficulty.
The uniform comprises of a Polo tee as the inside garment, with a jacket and trousers on top.
The location of pockets is kept in mind when it comes to human ergonomics.
A new polo-style shirt made of performance fabrics is an expert at cooling and wicking moisture.
A stretchy belt allows more comfortable movement.
The pants work with the body and feature two-way stretch fabric, lower waist and deep side
pocket.
Though the uniforms have a modern look and feel, safety and sanitary were a large factor in
design.
FEATURES
(REQUIREMENTS FOR HOME COLLECTION FIELD EXECUTIVES)

DESIGN DESCRIPTION:

The bag is a high volume backpack with gray & black

dominant colors & yellow brand yellow accents.
There are waste bins to the either side in the form of
bottle holders.
The front of the bag doubles up as a tray and opens
flat when the bag is standing upright.

INSIDE:

Instead of adding multiple

compartments from the outside, the
bag has separators on the inside, which
makes up for a less confusing setup
along with single access for all.
there are small nets and holders for
smaller entities.

The overall costing of the bag hence

remains low due to less external
components, thereby reducing the
external area.
HELMET DECAL

DESIGN DESCRIPTION:

The helmet decal is a simple sticker that

goes onto the rider's helmet.
It is in the brand colours and has a flowing

FIELD
VISITS
SUMIT
I spent some time on field with Jateen on a
Government duty, where he was collecting CoViD
Samples from different sites determined by the
government.
Although he was not carrying his main bag, he
gave me some major insights about what he
thinks should be there in the bag. Key takeaways
from the conversation are:
1. Bag should be slightly smaller than what it is
already (Around 15-20% Smaller)
2. Waste disposal bag should be a separate
entity that need not be a part of the main bag.
3. Will prefer a formal look, hence prefer the
shirt and trousers look to be retained, and
don't have any issues with the current number
of pockets either.
4. A convenient way to deal with the ID Card
would be appreciable for them.
