Notice the small black dot on top of these notes?

This little dot tells us that these notes are staccato


    

To achieve staccato:

1) play the note with one finger (index)

2) Immediately rest the following finger (middle)


on the same string to stop the sound of the note

3) If performed correctly, you should hear a very short note each time.
This technique can be performed with a variety of different finger combinations.

 
