1st year Bloc 3B

A. Write your answer on a 1 whole sheet of yellow paper. You may use the same paper for your

answers on the next activity below.

1. Change 7/8 to decimal form. 0.875

2. Change 1.25 to fraction form. 1 ¼

3. Convert 0.656 to its decimal form. 6.65%

4. Change ten and a half into percent. 1050%

5. Convert 1.56 into decimal form. 156%

1. 7/8 2. 1.25 3. 0.656 4. 10.5 5. 1.56

= 7÷8 = 1.25/1 =6.65% = 1050% = 156%

=0.875 = 125/100

=125/100 ÷25/25= 5/4

=1¼

B. Do the conversion of what is missing by the given below.

Fraction Decimal Percent

6. ⅗ 0.6  60%

7. 9/2 4.5 450%

8. 1 ¾ 1.75 175%

9. 1/8 0.125 12.5%

10. 9/20   0.45 45%

C. I will be giving a pair of ratio or rates. Your task is to DETERMINE IF the quantities in each

given is proportional. Explain your reasoning.

11. 98 words typed in three minutes; 162 words typed in five minutes.

98 words/ 3 minutes : 162 words/ 5 minutes

98/3 : 162/5

98 x 5 / 3 x 5 : 162 x 3/ 5 x 3

490/15 : 486/15

Now, the denominators are equal, but the numerators are not. As a result, each pair of ratios is

not proportional.

2. 16 points scored in four games; 48 points in eight games.

6 points/ 4 games : 48 points/ 8 games

1.5 : 6
Because ratios are not equal, a pair of ratios is not proportional.

a.Compute for what is asked.

1. What percent of 90 is 75? 83.3333..%

75 ÷ 90 = 0.8333..

= 83.3333..%

2. 35 is 25% of what number? 140

35 ÷ 25%

35 ÷ 0.25

= 140

3. What is 15% of 1840? 276

1840 x 15%

1840 x 0.15

=276

4. 135 is what percent of 90? 150 %

135 ÷ 90

1.5

= 150%

5. 690 is 150% of what number? 460

690/150%

690/1.5

= 460

b. Identify what is asked to solve for each of the following problems involving proportions.

Write your answers on a 1 whole sheet. You may use the back page of for your answer at the

above activity.

6. A box of pencils costs ₱ 30. How much will be the costs of a dozen box? 360 pesos.

30pesos=1box

12 (dozen) boxes x 30 pesos

= 360 pesos

7. Three kittens can finish eight boxes of cereals in a week. How many boxes of cereals are

needed weekly to feed an additional five kittens? 10 2/3 boxes

3 = 8 boxes.

8 ÷ 3 = 2 2/3 per kitten

3 + 5 = 8 kittens

8 kittens × 2 2/3 boxes = 10 2/3 boxes.

8. John has a two-thirds share in their food business. He sold half of his share for ₱20,000. What

has his total share before selling? How much is the total capital for the food business?

total share = ₱40,000

capital is =₱ 60, 000

:half of 2/3 = ₱20,000 x 2 to get the total share

= ₱40,000

Capital=n

2/3=40k/n

2n=120k

2n/2=120k/2

n = ₱60,000

9. Mr. Alcantara gave ₱50,000 as the club fund for the upcoming school fair. Math club, Science

club, and art club will share the amount in the ratio of 2:3:5. How much will she give for each

group?

Math Club:

=50,000 x 2/2+3+5

= 50,000 x 2/10

= ₱10,000

Science Club:

= 50,000 x 3/2+3+5

= 50,000 x 3/10
= 15,000

Art club:

= 50,000 x 5/2+3+5

= ₱50,000 x 5/10

= ₱25,000

10. A family has what they estimate to be a 30-day supply of food. However, after 10 days, only

an 18-day food supply remains. If they continue to eat at the same rate, how many days will the

food last for the family?

30 days day supply of food

10 days

18 days food supply remains

30 days – 18 days = 12 days

12 days ÷ 10 days = per 1.2 days supply of food

18 days ÷ 1.2 days = 15 days

= 15 days
