failed to go and thus the cost of food for each member increased by ₹10.How
many students attend the picnic.

A passenger train takes one hour less when its speed is increased by 15 km/hr
than its usual speed for a journey of 300 km. Find the usual speed of the train.

Q.32. Numerator of a fraction is 3 less than the denominator. If 4 is added to both
numerator and denominator, the value of the fraction increases by 1/8. Find
the fraction.

OR
A takes 10 days less than the time taken by B to finish a piece of work If both A and
B together can finish the work in 12 days, find the time taken by B to finish the work.

Q.33. Prove that if a line is drawn parallel to one side of a triangle intersecting the
other two sides in distinct points, then the other two sides are divided in the
same ratio.

Using the above theorem prove that a line through the point of intersection of
the diagonals and parallel to the base of the trapezium divides the non-parallel
sides in the same ratio.

Q.34. Shanta runs an industry in a shed which is in the shape of a cuboid


surmounted by a half cylinder (see Fig.). If the base of the shed is of
dimension 7 m × 15 m, and the height of the cuboidal portion is 8 m, find the
volume of air that the shed can hold. Further, suppose the machinery in the
shed occupies a total space of 300 m3, and there are 20 workers, each of
whom occupy about 0.08 m3 space on an average. Then, how much air is in
the shed?

(Take 𝜋 =227).

A Gulab jamun, contains sugar syrup up to about 30% of its volume. Find
approximately how much syrup would be found in 45 Gulab jamuns, each
shaped like a cylinder with two hemispherical ends with length 5 cm and
diameter 2.8 cm (see Fig.).

In a quiz competition in a family members Raj tells his daughter, that my


present age is x years and the sum of the ages of my daughter and mine is 50
years. Five years ago, the product of my daughters age and my age was
175.Now Based on the above information, answer the following questions:

(i) What was age of Raj’s daughter before 5 years?
(ii) Write the quadratic equation describing their ages before 5 years?

What is present age of Raj and his daughter?
(iii)What will be the age of Raj’s daughter after 5 years?

Q.37 Five ships are positioned in the Indian Ocean. Their positions were plotted on a
graph paper in reference to a rectangular coordinate axis.

An enemy ship is spotted at P(-5,6).


(i) What is the distance between P and E ?
(ii) Find the coordinate of mid-point of BD.
(iii) Ship D is moved to a position which is mid-point of AE. Find the distance
moved by D.

We find a rock at new position G such that B,G and C are in a straight line and
BG:GC=3:1 then find the coordinates of G.

Q.38 Radio towers are used for transmitting a range of communication services
including radio and television. The tower will either act as an antenna itself or
support one or more Antennas on its structure, including microwave dishes.
They are among the tallest human-made structures. There are 2 main types:
guyed and self-supporting structures. On a similar concept, a radio station
tower was built in two sections A and B. Tower is supported by wires from a
point O . Distance between the base of the tower and point O is 36 m. From
point O , the angle of elevation of the top of section B is 300 and the angle of
elevation of the top of section A is 45°.

(i) What is the height of the section B?

(ii) What is the height of the section A?

What is the length of the wire structure from the point O to the top of
section B?

(iii) What is the length of the wire structure from the point O to the top of
section A?
