Answer the following question:
1. Differentiate the Aims of La Liga Filipina to the Katipunan Movement?
KKK had different objective than the La Liga Filipina because it did not aim for reform but independence from Spanish rule through revolution. The La Liga Filipina objectives do not necessarily promote the Katipunan. But La Liga, of course, is historically related to both KKK and Propaganda Movement.
2. Why is it Jose Rizal wanted our country as to become one of the
provinces of Spain? Do you in favor on this or not in favor? Elaborate and Justify your answer. Rizal believed that the only way to escape this was to ‘fix the system’. This involved introducing liberal reforms, ending clerical abuses, making indios (native Filipinos) equal to Spaniards in the eyes of the law, and focusing on educating the masses. If and when these aims could be met perhaps Filipinos could rightly earn their independence. The alternative was war, bloodshed, an unstable democracy, and the tyranny of the masses. I cannot say I agree; however, I think I can empathize with Rizal. Not only was he apprehensive of violent revolution, but of what could happen after it - a former colony splintered in multiple factions divided by ethnicity, class, and conflicting loyalties. His fears were not unfounded. In Latin America, colonies that won their freedom from Spain quickly descended into political in- fighting, brutal dictatorships, and open civil war.
