(a) Find the idealized voltage gain. (3)


(b) Find the peak-to-peak current ripple through the source, as a function of input
voltage (Vg ), duty ratio (D), and other relevant converter parameters (L1 /C1 /L2 /C2 ).
State any assumption that you make. (3)
(c) Find the peak-to-peak voltage ripple at the output as a function of duty ratio,
input voltage and relevant converter parameters. (3)
(d) What is the minimum voltage the switch S̄ is required to block? Indicate the
polarity (forward/reverse) of this blocking voltage. (2+1)

2. A half-wave diode rectifier feeds an R-L load from 230V, 50 Hz, single-phase supply.
Given that the load parameters are R = 10 Ω and L = 10 mH, calculate the load current
at t = 10ms and t = 14ms, measured from the positive going zero crossing instant of
the input ac voltage. From these results, evaluate the conduction interval. Your answer
should be within 0.5ms of the correct answer. (3+3+6)
