ARCAGEL 125 D Blue
Diazo photoemulsion for rotary printing screens

ARCAGEL 125 D Blue is used in textile and wallpaper printing for conventional film, CTS exposure, wax
and inkjet engraving of rotary printing screens. It has excellent flow properties, optimum resolution and
good reproduction of details. After heat curing, it shows excellent resistance to all commonly used
printing pastes. ARCAGEL 125 D Blue can be used as lacquer for laser engraving – in this case it is
being used without Diazo.

SENSITIZING 1. Not applicable when used as laser lacquer

2. With DIAZO NO. 30, diluted in distilled water

DEGREASING Before coating the nickel rotary screen with ARCAGEL 125 D Blue, we
recommend to degrease it with ARCACLEAN NOVO, so that the
photoemulsion has good adhesion to the nickel screen.

COATING Standard preparation for machine coating for exposure application:

Single squeegee (immersion coating from top to bottom), coating speed 12-
15 cm/min:

ARCAGEL 125 D Blue 900 g 4500 g

DIAZO NR. 30 solution 100 g *500 g
Water 250 g 1250 g

*fill 250 ml bottle 2 times

Double squeegee coating (from top to bottom):

ARCAGEL 125 D Blue 900 g 4500 g

DIAZO NR. 30 solution 100 g 500 g

The exact quantity of water must be adjusted to the coating method and type
of screen. Allow the photoemulsion to ventilate, if possible overnight.

DRYING After coating, drying is effected in a dust-free drying cabinet with fresh air
circulation for approx. 45 minutes at approx. 30°C. Drying at room
temperature is not recommended.

Before exposure, do not expose the coated and dried screen to daylight or
any other UV-light sources.

EXPOSURE The printing stencil is produced by hardening the non-printing screen area
with UV-light. Blue-actinic light in the wave-length range between 350-400 nm
is required; especially suitable light sources are metal-halide lamps. Owing to
the high number of parameters that can have an influence on exposure time,
no absolute values can be given. Optimum copying results can only be
achieved by trials (step exposure).

DEVELOPING After approx. 5 minutes in the water bath at 15-20°C, rinse with clear water or
develop the screen in a screen developing machine.

HARDENING/ The dried screen will be cured for 30-60 minutes at 180°C. Ensure a uniform
CURING temperature (+/- 5°C) in the curing oven. Depending on the application, 1 h at
160°C can be sufficient.

Before heat curing, ARCAGEL 125 D Blue is easily decoatable with

PREGASOL products (e.g. PREGASOL F, EP 3).

RETOUCHING For retouching, retouch lacquers of our range of ESTELAN products are
suitable. Please contact your agent or ARC directly for further information.
Repair work on the printing machine can be done with the extremely fast
drying one-component lacquer ESTELAN 440.

NOTICE The printing resistance of a textile stencil depends on many different

parameters, e.g. surface of the nickel rotary screen, drying, exposure, curing
conditions etc. Furthermore, in practical work, a large variety of printing media
and printing machines are in use, all of which cannot be included in our
preliminary tests. Therefore, we ask you to order samples of this
photoemulsion, so that you can conduct your own trials under local working
conditions. This is the best way to establish that our products meet your
requirements. We accept responsibility for consistent screen quality only
under our working conditions.
