    Justification essay

    Based on the experience of the writer regarding both of the scales he would prefer to use the
    Riverside Life Satisfacation Scale (RLSS) created by Margolis and colleagues (2018). RLSS is a 6
    item scale that uses both scored and reverse-scored items which include indicators of negative
    feelings, yearning for change and repetitive items in order to strengthen one’s view of his or her life.
    It is similar to SWLS with a few difference but the writer chose this scale for the following reasons.

    The first reason is that the RLSS is longer than Satisfication with life scale (SWLS). RLSS
    has 6 items used in order to determine one’s satisfication level with life while RSLS has only 5 items.
    Secondly, RLSS scale is more complex than SWLS in terms of the item’s legends. Due to the RLSS
    using a scale with normal scores and reverse-scores it has the chance for more in depth analysis
    compared to SWLS. Lastly, RLSS has a wider range of score compared to SWLS hence it has more
    potential for in-depth analysis later on.
