1. Transplanting ensures a uniform plant stand and gives the rice crop a head start over
emerging weeds. Further, seedlings are established even if the field is not leveled adequately
and has variable water levels. With uniform growth, healthy seedlings produce a good canopy
and every plant can avail of sufficient sunlight and soil nutrients. They can also easily recover
from transplanting shock, and have a higher survival rate. They produce productive tillers that
translate to increased potential for higher yield.

2. Transplantation minimizes inputs. Effective irrigation minimizes water wastage during early
stages of plant growth and pest management removes excessive pesticides. Transplant
minimizes weed pressure by reducing the amount of time the plant stays on the ground.
Transplantation reduces the need for a general workforce. Transplantation enables selective
cultivation of healthy seedlings. This results in better crop production. Transplantation permits
better root penetration into the soil. Transplantation allows better shot development.

3. Observations should determine how the crop is growing and if there are pests or diseases
causing yield-loss; remembering that not all injury causes yield-loss. The best way to control
both pests and diseases is to keep plants healthy. Build healthy soil. Healthy soil provides a
home to friendly insects and helps prevent many plant diseases. Plant resistant varieties.

4. Transplanting them into larger pots, helps them develop healthier roots and grow faster. By
not restraining their growth indoors, you're training them to grow big and strong when it's time to
put them in the garden. Transplanting is commonly practiced as a method of weed control for
wet or puddled fields. It requires less seed but much more labor compared to direct seeding.
Also, transplanted crops take longer to mature due to transplanting shock. Prior to transplanting,
seedlings need to be raised in a nursery.

5. If the seedlings don't get the required soil type, they will grow slowly because the soil is too
dry or too wet. And it may not have the right pH level in the soil. You can avoid this problem by
making sure to know the type of seedlings you're growing and their soil requirements.
