Sub: Scheme for automatic signaling with Axle Counter (with dual detection
arrangement) over OFC.
Ref; (i) ED/Signal/Railway Board letter no. 2020/Sig/M/DAC/DD dt.13.04,2020.
(ii) ED/Signal/Railway Board letter no, 2020/Sig/21/Safety Performance
dt.07.10.2020.
{ill Item No. 3.0()) of Review Meeting through VC held by Railway Board and the
minutes circulated vide letter no. 2011/Sig/G/2/RDSO dt.12.10,2020.
In reference to Railway Board's references quoted at (i), (il) & (ii) above, the typical
scheme for automatic signaling with Axle Counter (with dual detection arrangement) over OFC
has been prepared for cost optimization and faster & safer execution. The typical scheme
alongwith write-up is enclosed for guidance for the Railways. The scheme shows the
arrangement of dual detection of MSDAC, concept of track sections, concept of auto resetting
etc. The scheme is expected to be more reliable and maintenance friendly due to following
reasons:
1, Centralization of vital electronic equipment at stations/relay hut.
2. Dual detection arrangement of MSDAC with auto resetting.
3. Use of axle counter makes the scheme immune to the last conditions/drainage/rail
install
4. The dual detection arrangement is with MSDAC to MSDAC for Main line, stations sections
& yards, Automatic signaling, BPAC, IBS application to avoid glued joint.
5. The provision of optical fiber cable with physical diversity in up and down direction will
‘make the communication reliable and cost effective. This will also reduce the failure on
account of induction effect in quad cable. yw
“a>&. Status of all the systems including redundant shall be monitored through data logger and
exception reports/alarms shall be sent to maintenance team & signal control for taking
necessary action well in time before complete system failure.
7. The scheme is generic and may require same changes depending on the site conditions,
Inter signal distance of auto sections, type of MSDAC planned for use ete.
8. Zonal Railways/PSUs may be advised that
() While calling the tenders for executing the work through work
contracts/store contracts etc. should supply tentative SIP of the automatic
Section/IBS/BPAC so that the bidder (OEM or its authorized indian
Partner) shall be able to supply the scheme/architecture for
implementation of the scheme.
For implementing the scheme the existing estimates may be revised for
design redundancy/dual detection arrangement with MSDAC to MSDAC
instead of track circuit in line with Railway Board letter ref. (i)
Accordingly, schemes and write-up is enclosed, herewith.
DA: Typical schemes and write-up for

The above double line scheme shows the arrangement of Detection Points (DPs) of MSDACs
for main & redundant, concepts of track section. The scheme is for one typical section having
auto sections of 1.0 to 1.4 kms each signal. If the inter signal distance is less, number of auto
sections can be increased between the stations.
