NO EXCUSES: THE KING BECKONS

Luke 14:16-24

INTRODUCTION

We are in a generation and an era of many things: many voices, many opportunities, many distractions,
etc. Men are occupied by many things at many different times and in many different ways. There is
always something to catch your attention at any given time. There is no free moment or time and giving
your time and other resources to anyone or anything comes at a great cost and sacrifice.

It is in this time and under these circumstances that the Master beckons. He beckons to a prepared
banquet in His presence.

Read Focal Scripture: LUKE 14 :16-24

THE MASTER BECKONS

Who is the Master?

Read: Acts 2:36

The Master is Jesus. He has been made Lord and Christ. Lord, according to Merriam Webster Dictionary
is defined as one having power and authority over others: Lord literally means master.

He is master over all creation, Master over circumstances, Master of our lives, etc.

Question: What else is Jesus Master of?

...

THE CALL

To beckon is to summon or signal to come. The Master, our Lord Jesus Christ, is summoning us. He is
calling us to the Great Feast of His Presence. He beckons on us to come to the place of Intimacy,
Righteousness, Service, Discipleship, Wilderness Experience, Prayer, Bible Study, etc. It is call to follow
process and patterns that will mould us to His image.

Why does He call us?

Read: Mark 3:14-15, Acts 4:13

He calls us to be with us till we become like Him, then He sends us out to call others unto Him.
What is the nature of His Call?

Read: Luke 9:23, Heb 12:1-2

It is a call to forsake all and to follow hard after Him.

It is call to self denial; a call to kill the flesh and die to sin.

NO EXCUSES

Read: Luke 14:18-20

Identify the Excuses given by those who were called.

What excuses do we give today, while the Lord calls us?

Three (3) areas of excuse:

* New Land (Busy with projects and possesions)

* Yoke of Oxen (Work)

* Married (Family)

Question: How does any of these affect your response to the Master's Call?

What happens when we give excuses?

Read: Luke 14:22, Luke 9:59-62

It is a privilege to be beckoned. It is the work of God's grace and mercy.

* When we begin to give excuses, the grace and mercy will find available persons and bypass us.

* Excuses will make us unfit for the Kingdom

2 Tim 2:20-21. The Lord uses available vessels that have prepared themselves to fit His use.

CONCLUSION

The Master's beckoning is not a waste of time. That you have many excuses is proof that you esteem
many things above His call. God has a purpose and a plan fod your life (Jer 29:11).
Until you give yourself totally to respond to the call of the Master, forsake all to follow Him. He cannot
take you through the school of the Spirit to prepare you for the plans and purposes He has for you.

Remember: The Lord always has a better replacement. Heed His call with utmost emergency. It is a
privelege.

No more excuses, the Master beckons.
