The course deals with the study of various laws related to the
practice of Medical Technology in the Philippines primarily RA
005527. It also includes the study of professional ethics and
bioethics. Bioethics deals with the study of Ethics in relation to
health particularly and to human life in general. Its emphasis is on
basic ethical principles, major bioethical principles, and its
application in health. It also includes the discussion of
philosophical principles and virtues of health care providers.

At the end of the course, the learners are expected to:


Cognitive
1. Recognize the rights and privileges, duties, and responsibilities of a medical
technologists/medical laboratory scientist in the practice of the profession
2. Clarify the issues belonging to Ethics, Bioethics, Health Ethics and Professional
Ethics
3. Cite different laws, presidential decrees, administrative orders affecting the practice
of the medical technology profession
4. Discuss major bioethical issues

1. Apply knowledge acquired about the different principles in bio/health ethics.

1. Internalize the necessary virtues as health care professionals.
