Exercise no. 3: Solving Linear Optimization Models using Graphical Solution

1. Antonio holds 2 projects, project X and project Y. He planned that he will not work longer than a total of 12 hours a week.
According to his planning for both projects, he needs to allot 4 hours for documentation time for Project X, while he needs to
spend at least 1 hour of documentation time for Project Y and cannot spend more than 16 hours for the documentation. If
Antonio makes Php 300 an hour at Project X and Php 500 an hour at Project Y, how many hours should he work per week at
each project to maximize his income?

2. The marketing department of JKL, Inc. has foreseen a demand of their smartphones this holiday season - Phone A Pro and P
B Ultra. To be able to deliver the projected demand, the operations manager has derived with the production schedule: Assem
and Packaging that takes a total of 12 hours available for each step. One unit of Phone A Pro requires 1 hour of assembly and
of packaging, while one unit of Phone B Ultra needs 2 hours of assembly and one hour of finishing. Due to manpower and equ
limitations, the company can only make 7 smartphones a day. If every Phone A Pro earns $20 profit and $30 profit for Phone B
how many smartphones should be manufactured to earn maximum profit?

3. At a marketing firm, Ms. Holden hired two interns, Albert and Rhoda, to assess, submit and close the product reviews sent b
customers. Ms Holden needs to have 12 assessments, 18 submissions and 20 closures for the product reviews. Albert can perf
2 assessments, 1 submission and 2 closures and earn $15 per hour, while Rhoda can perform 1 assessment, 3 submissions and
closures and earn $25 hourly. How many hours should each intern be employed to minimize cost?
