Objectives:
• Students will understand the power of kindness.
• Students will identify ways that they can show kindness to others.

What’s Included:
• P. 4-6: “The Ripple Effect Of Kindness” Worksheets
• Students can each start with one of the half-sheets from page 4 or 5. They
will read the act of kindness in the first box, and then write one effect of
that act of kindness. Then, they will pass their sheet to the right so that
each student receives a new sheet. They will read the first two boxes, and
write an effect of the effect in the 3rd box. This will continue until all four
boxes are full. Then, each student will read all of the boxes on the sheet
they have. If you are working with students individually, they can fill in all 3
boxes, or you can pass the sheet back and forth and take turns completing
it until it’s finished.
• For an added challenge, use the half-sheets on page 6 to have students
come up with their own initial act of kindness.
• P. 7-8: The Power Of Kindness Matching Puzzles
• Cut out each individual triangle from the puzzles from page 7 and/or page
8. Then, mix up the pieces. Students will look at each scenario on the top
triangle and think about the effect that the kind act would have. The
students will then put the scenario (top triangle) with the matching effect
(bottom triangle).
• This can be done in groups or individually.
• P. 9-11: Kindness Spinner
• Students will assemble the spinner according to the directions on page 9.
• P. 12-14: “One Act Of Kindness” Worksheet/Display
• Students will complete page 12 by filling in the “1” with pictures/words that
describe one act of kindness they can do. If desired, you can use this
worksheet as a classroom/hallway display by having students cut out their
“1”s and hanging them with the heading sheet from page 13 (color) or page
14 (BW).

Ideas For Use:

• These resources can be used with or without the book The Power Of One by
Trudy Ludwig.
• The activities can be used together as a unit or as stand-alone activities.
• Use these activities in classroom, small groups or individual lessons to
remind students about the power of kindness.
