ALHOTY - STANGER LABORATORIES ie spilin peg all olprise Independent Testing Laboratories Be ivemnner Tenses) and Materials Consultants styl! gba obtained from the field tests (SPT) and the empirical equations developed by Terzagi / Meyerhoff, Allowable bearing pressures are dependent on the shear strength of the soil and the tolerance of the proposed structure to settlement. In granular soils, the latter factor is normally more critical. Settlement in such deposits normally takes place during construction and initial loading but, where more silty or cohesive materials exist, there could be a degree of time dependent consolidation, Therefore as granular soils are present at this site, settlement will be the governing factor in considering foundation design. ‘Table No.7 Net Allowable Bearing Pressure for Shallow Foundation i Soe peeny Ms Allowable SE) Mx | 829] Betriog | subgrade | Settlement 2 | Foundation | 5 a Bressure AaScion Caney © ‘Width (m) | (kN/m?) 1 (kNim*) 1s [ 130 15,600 Isolated 2.0 120 14,400 <25 3.0 10 110 13,200 Raft 10.0 200 12,000 <50 15 140 16,800 Isolated 2.0 1 130 15,600 <25 s 3.0 120 14,400 Raft 10.0 220 13,200 <50 1. The existing ground surface shall be excavated 0.50m below the proposed foundation level. 2. During excavation, care should be taken not to disturb the underlying strata. If any disturbance does occur, or any soft, organics or any other unsuitable materials are encountered, the material should be removed and replaced with well compacted granular material 3. Compaction shall be carried out at the excavated level using heavy roller to ensure that the excavated surface is compacted and densified, to not less than 95% of the maximum dry density prior to placing subsequent layers. 4. Place two layer of road base material upto the foundation level in a thickness of 250mm. Heavy vibratory roller shall be used for compaction to achieve degree of compaction not less than 98% of the maximum dry density as obtained by Modified Proctor compaction, A22-499811 Page 10 of 15, Po. sox 1038 Ro" aok toes ro. box ree fo. soca Rover sits Tetsnsnnat Teo ven Salsonecrot yess ‘atoms aK: tom sss E-mail; ahoty@aInotystanger-ae, Website : www.alholystangeruae.com
