Very wie range of applications, due to independent settings for leach ofthe pick-up levels and time-delay elements, ‘Simple external witing ~ no extra elements required (no auxifary relays or resets, otc). ‘High stabity on temperature, and on ageing, due basically to the use of capacitors with 2 polycarbonate elolectne. Protectod against severe environments: heat and humidity, saline atmosphere, coresion and mould, termes, May be stocked at very low temperatures (tests cated out by the Cele. a ~ 87°C), APPLICATIONS ‘weneraly, overcurrent rerays usea for aerator protection must ‘be set such that coordination is achieved with other protections In ‘the notwork. This imposes certain resirctons conceming the ‘operating lavel and time-delay setings, Howayr on some occasions, such eatin cud rduce & ‘isk of nen-operaton i the relay isnot spe ‘or this application, under heavy or even shor-circut faut condi- tions. "In fac, although inthe fs instants affer such a fault the curronts ara only tmited by the total leakage mpedance (subtran- ‘Siont and transient reactances), and actieve values soverl times the generator nominal current, they may dearease very (dow transient sme constants) to stabilise at permanent short-<- ‘uit currenis very much Below the protection operating evel (ihe permanent level fs governed by the ampltude of the excta¥on ‘current andthe vale ofthe crect-xis synchronous impedance). ‘Athough in some instances the action ofthe voltage regulators on the field currant can avoid this situation («compound » regula tors) Inthe general case the problem remains when te exclavon fs of he « shunt » type, of when the machine operates for varous ‘reasons without ine automate volage regulator. In order to overcome these difeuties, relays of the ITV 7100 series have the capabity of modifying thelr curent operating level in a manner which 's proportional fo the voltage at the gene {lor terminals. The operating level starts to be modiied gs soon asthe votage is below 80% of nominal value, and the pick-up Te at fs minimum, ‘ie. dvided by 5, when the voltage fs at 20 % of nominal. Thus {he rgk of non-operation due to the aptd decrease In short-cut current is elminated. Type of relay, followed by a letter indicating the type of contacts on the output unit, then the number of the identifying drawing. + Nominal value of current and frequecy. « Nominal voltage. + Nominal auxiliary voltage, followed where necessary by the value of the external resistor if aux. V> 125 ¥. . Serial number, preceeded by a letter referring to the year of manufacture, and followed by a letter corresponding to the model list index. 2) Setting controls, accessible with the faceplate removed : . I / In>: low-set adjustment in multiples of In. . I / If}: high-set adjustment in multiples of In. . ef (I>) + low-set unit time-delay adjustment. . t2 (I})s : high-set unit time-delay adjustment. 3) Operation indicator : A mechanical operation indicator, whose position may be seen through a window, indicates operation of the output unit (red = operation). qe may be reset using a push-button close to the window. Ex ~ comrssrowins = Check that the wiring corresponds to the connection drawing, and that the auxiliary supply is that given on the iden- tifying label. ATT! an external 5 supply circuit. For auxiliary voltages above 125V (nominal), ‘must be connected in series with the auxiliary = Check visually that the relay has not been mechanically damaged. = Check that it is correctly plugged in, and that the fixing rods are screwed tight home in order to ensure that the short-circuiters on the current input circuits are opened. - after having removed the faceplate, check that the mechanical operation indicator falls freely when the armature of the auxiliary unit is pressed home using a pointed tool, and that the contacts are apparently in good condition. eel The relays are delivered sealed. This seal should be removed when commissioning, by a qualified person. - Electrical tests : . For testing these relays a current source and a voltage source, both variable, are required. The current source must be fitted with a device which trips the current when the output unit of the relay operates, in order to avoid prolonged overloads. . IMPORTANT : WE STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST TESTING THE RELAY WITHOUT ITS BASE, BY PLUGGING STANDARD COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE PLUGS INTO ITS FEMALE TERMINALS. . Tests : Connect the auxiliary voltage to terminals 4 (+) and 5 (-). Connect the input voltage between terminals 14 and 13-15 connected together (single phase test). ° Connect the current source to one of the inputs 2-3 or 6-7 or 10-11 for single phase tests. With the input voltage at its nominal value, the single phase operating level is 1.06 times the potentiometer setting, and the drop-out is of the order of 95 %. If the input voltage is removed, the pick-up is divided by 5, and the drop-out is of the order of 50 %. To check the time delay, preset a current at 1.2 times the chosen setting ; connect a timer started by the current injection and stopped by a contact on the output unit ; check that after injecting the current, the relay trips in the time set on the potentiometer. ITT = ANALYSIS OF ABNORMAL SITUATIONS . Check that the auxiliary voltage is in fact present on terminals 4 and 5 (current approx. 50 mA). . Check that’ the wiring corresponds to the connection drawing whose number is given on the identifying label. Check that the relay is correctly plugged in, and that the base ig correctly connected.
