Chapter 1
Introduction
The country has seen rising prices for goods and services
in recent months. Recent price increases. Inflation was 6.4
percent year on year by the end of July this year. It was 6.1
percent in June of the previous year. However, it was 5.4
percent in May. Given that the average annual inflation rate
in 2021 was 3.5 percent and 2.4 percent in 2020, the 2022
annual inflation rates represent an acceleration of price
increases. (Gerardo P. Sicat, August 17, 2022)
