Introduction

Background of the Study

The country has seen rising prices for goods and services
in recent months. Recent price increases. Inflation was 6.4
percent year on year by the end of July this year. It was 6.1
percent in June of the previous year. However, it was 5.4
percent in May. Given that the average annual inflation rate
in 2021 was 3.5 percent and 2.4 percent in 2020, the 2022
annual inflation rates represent an acceleration of price
increases. (Gerardo P. Sicat, August 17, 2022)

Inflation is defined as a broad rise in the prices of

goods and services across the economy over time, eroding
consumers' and businesses' purchasing power. In other words,
your pesos (or whatever currency you use to make purchases)
will not stretch as far as they did in previous years. Take a
commonly consumed item and compare its price from one period
to another to understand the effects of inflation.
Statement of the Problem

The main focus of the study is to determine the effects of

the recent ever increasing inflation and how it would be like
as we are going to celebrate Christmas in a month. Will this
diminish the Christmas spirit as Filipinos know it?

Specifically, it sought to answer the following queries;

1. What are the effects of inflation on the economic

development of the country?
2. Will this diminish the Christmas spirit as Filipinos know
it?
3. Is the government doing enough to satisfy the needs of
the Filipino citizens despite this high rise in
inflation?

Hypothesis

From the queries stated, the following hypotheses are

made:

1. There are effects of inflation on the economic

development of the country.

Null Hypothesis

2. It will not diminish the Christmas spirit as Filipinos

know it.
3. The government is not doing enough to satisfy the needs
of the Filipino citizens despite this high rise in
inflation.
Objectives of the Study

The following are the main objectives of the study:

1. To determine the effects of the inflation to the expenses

in celebrating the Christmas.
