Haiti is a Caribbean territory that was once called Saint Dominque before it got its independence,

most of its population are descendants from African people. In Haiti two languages are mainly
spoken French and Haitian Creole which is a marked dialectal variety of French, the creole is the
people of Haiti’s first language. The language situation is due to the mix of French(Colonization)
and African influences(slavery) on the country. As for the factors responsible for the existing
situation as alluded to before colonization and slavery which are historical factors, Social factors
which show the dynamics of social class and education in Haiti, cultural factors which happen
due to the movement of slaves from Africa to Haiti and French people migrating to Haiti and
political factors as the ones who were in charge spoke French and therefore these are the factors
influencing the Language situation in Haiti. In regard to the roles language plays in Haiti, it can
be said that the language can be used to locate and identify you as it places you in the Caribbean
region and then Haiti, it will also identify your social class and language is also used to alienate
and discriminate as people judge by the use of the French if you are educated or high-class and if
your do no use it you are alienated
