Chapter 1

1: Eirlys Dhym

Slowly i lifted my eyelids as I feel the heat of the sunrays touching my face and making me feel warm. As
soon as i open my eyes, the green leafy trees came into view. A gentle wind blew some strands of my hair
now blocking my sight. I swiftly tucked it behind my ear and got up from the tree i was leaning on so I
could freely watch this breath taking view. Standing on top of this hill made it more possible for me to
scan the whole place.

I was facing the sunrise where the mountains peak almost touching the sun. Few meters away from
where i was standing a small village with the people busy doing their job. When I glanced on my left side
I saw an enchanting river with a glass like water sparkling under the sunlight. It was already stunning
from afar what more if up close? I turned at my back and saw a huge palace further from here. It’s
shinning like its made out of gold and gemstones.

But my gaze went back to the river like it hypnotized me to go there and feel the water on my hands,
and so I did. Next thing I knew, I was already in front of the river. And I was right that its more stunning if
close. I sat down beside the river and my eyes roam around. There were some animals peeking behind
the trees and the bushes and some birds on the branches glancing down on me probably sensing my
presence inside their territory. I was cautious of my actions so I wouldn’t scare the animals.

I glanced back at the river and once again, I was enchanted by its beauty. Unconsciously, I raised my
hand and was about to touch the water when suddenly I heard someone calling out my name stopping
me from touching the water and looked around to see if someone ,aside from me, was around. At first it
was more like a whisper but it suddenly turns into shouts. It was getting louder every passing minutes
that I have to cover my ear, but it was no use. I could still hear the nerve wrecking screams like it was
screaming in my head…

“DIAMOND!”

I woke up only to see my best friend shouting my name near my face like there’s no tomorrow.
Annoyance was evident on her face. Oh boy. I think I just woke the dragon up. Should I start wishing for
a knight-in-shining-armor to save me from this dragons ear wrecking shouts? nah, I think I should just
put some earplug.

“ano nanaman bang nainom mong pampatulog at daig mo pa ang patay?! Kanina pa ako sigaw
ng sigaw diyan sa tapat ng tenga mo at halos mailuwa ko na ang lalamunan ko kakasigaw!
Kulang na lang eh ibalibag kita diyan sa kinauupuan mo!”sigaw niya and looked at me like
she’s going to kill me anytime at this four cornered room.

I yawned first before greeting her. I smiled sweetly and said “Good morning sandy.
Gandang pambungad mo sa umaga tara na sa cafeteria libre kita ng milk tea,”I stood up and
picked up my bag not minding her dagger stares. Sanay naman ako sa kanya. Maikli ang
pasensya, pero bigyan mo langyan ng paborito niyang milk tea at tatahimik yan na akala mo
hindi nag evolve bilang isang dragon.

“talaga? libre mo ‘ko? And it’s already lunch, diamond. You fell asleep again inside the
detention room. Late ka nanaman.” See? from a raging dragon to a cute bunny. Works every
time . Every time that I’ll frustrate the hell out of her I would always buy her a milk tea
then we’ll be okay. You can say that milk tea is one of her weak spot. The magic word ‘libre
and milk tea’.

Meet Sandria Francio. My best friend since birth. And she’s the only one who calls me
diamond. So in return I call her by her favorite cartoon character since she was a kid, well
up until now. Sandy from SpongeBob square pants. The astronaut squirrel under the sea.
We were like twins since both our father were best friends and our house is next to each
other. And since I’m an only child, I’m grateful to have sandy as my best friend/sister.

Lumabas na kami ng detention room at dumeretso na sa cafeteria. Pagkapasok palang

naming ay umani na kaagad kami ng mga tingin sa studyante. They would look at us like were
some kind of a new discovered specie and would buzz like a bee. Not that were being
idolized or something, ‘cause it’s the total opposite. But most of them are looking at me
like I’m a freaking trash inside this school.

Hindi na lang namin sila pinansin at dumeretso na sa pila. I don’t even know why they were
wasting their time on us if they see us like a trash. I ordered some pasta,fries,burger,a
box of pizza,and ofcourse milk tea for the two of us. Sandy only ordered a fries and a
burger. Hindi na rin siya nagtataka kung bakit ang dami ko parating kinakain pero hindi
naman tumataba. Sinabi ko na lang sa kanya na parehas lang kaming may dragon.

Pagkatapos naming magbayad ay dumeretso na kami sa mesa na lagi naming inuukupa. Sa

pinaka dulo kami umuupo dahil tahimik ‘don at makakakain kami ng tahimik.

Inilapag na muna naming ang tray na dala naming at saka umupo. Iniabot ko naman sakanya
ang milk tae niya. She smile at me and thanked me. I just nodded my head and started
eating. She told me that she’d let me borrow her notes about the subjects I missed this
morning since we both have the same class. By the way, we’re already first year college
students here in Heaven University.

“ nga pala. Parating na yun dito si Jade. Tinanghali na rin daw kasi siya ng gising. Tsaka hindi
nanaman daw kasi naka uwi yung mama niya.” I just nodded my head in response. Jade is a
friend of ours. We met her on the day of enrollment and the rest is history. After we
finished our food, we were about to stand up when someone spoke behind me.

“oh, the losers are here. Look at how pathetic they are” I glance at kycee whose now
smirking at me as we gained stares from the students. I just looked back at her at her not
minding the stares. I stared at her with boredom. She’s the one who’s pathetic here with
her childish acts.

“Kycee, we don’t want any trouble” said sandy. Doon lang naputol ang titigan namin and she
turned to sandy and said “I just want to visit my dear sister, I’m a good sister aren’t i? By
the way where’s your skeletal friend?” prang pumintig naman ang tainga ko sa tinawag niya
sakin.

“I’m not your sister and you’ll never be one. I’d rather want to be sponge bob’s sister than
you.”I stated while directly looking at her.” and don’t call jade skeletal. She’s just petite
but she has curves. While you, you’re like a walking lumpia na tinipid sa lumpia wrapper.”
Sabi ko habang pinasadan ang suot niya na halos Makita na ang singit niya na sing itim na ng
sunog na lumpia.

Her face reddened with irritation when she heard everyone laugh at what I said.
