2 SPECIFICATIONS
All systems are fully inspected and tested prior to packing and shipment from the factory. Upon receipt, the system should be
inspected for any signs of visible damage that may have occurred during transit. The packing slips should be carefully checked to
ensure that all components, including outline and schematic drawings of the equipment have been received. If any parts are
damaged or missing, the purchaser should immediately present a claim to the carrier and then notify the factory.
After initial inspection, the equipment should be promptly moved to the final installation position or to a dry, weather-protected and
temperature-controlled storage area per specifications. The drive is not weatherproof and must never be stored in an outdoor area.
The following are examples of the nameplates. These can be found on every drive. They represent rated values.

3 SAFETY
3.1 Personal Safety Precautions and Warnings
ASIRobicon GT 3000 drives are designed with considerable thought to personal safety. As with any electrical or electronic
equipment lethal voltages exist inside the enclosure. Only qualified individuals who are trained and aware of the dangers involved
should work on these VFD’s.
• Never touch anything in the VFD until verification and Lock-Out are complete.
• Always wear safety glasses.
• Never connect grounded test equipment to the VFD.
• Verify that the VFD is earth grounded per code.
• Input voltages based upon VFD (380Vac, 415 Vac, 480 Vac, 600 Vac, 690Vac)
• Output voltages based upon input voltage and motor rating.
• DC Bus potential based upon input voltage ( 537 Vdc - 975 Vdc)
• Customer supplied power supplies

537 Bus
Vdc Voltages
415 Vac 586 Vdc
480 Vac 678 Vdc
600 Vac 848 Vdc
690 Vac 975 Vdc
•
Proper test equipment should be utilized to verify that power is shut off to the various sources.
• Equipment should be rated at the voltage level that it is connected to.
• The leads of the test equipment should be rated at the voltage levels and be inspected on a regular basis for
deterioration.
IMGT30003EN-September 2003 9
http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/gt3000manual 13/167
7/21/2019 GT3000_manual
3.4 Verification
• Test equipment should always be tested to insure correct functionability before verification is performed on the VFD.
• Verify power has been removed on the input of the drive.
• Allow the capacitors time to discharge before going into the VFD.
• Wait approximately 15 minutes and then check the voltage on the capacitors
• Acceptable voltage would be less than 50V
•
Be aware of all customer input voltages to the control boards, relays, and any other input sources or devices.
Regardless of the current lock-out/tag-out procedures in place, the following must be strictly adhered to:
• Lock-out/Tag-out does not eliminate the need to verify power has been removed.
• On units with an input disconnect or circuit breaker the following is required:
• Put a lock at the VFD
• Put a lock up one source from the VFD
If there is no means of disconnecting the power at the VFD then it must be shut off upstream and locked out and verified. In this
case additional caution must be taken when working on the VFD. Grounding cables can be connected to the input tie block as an
additional security measure during testing.
When working on equipment with input contactors, additional caution is required when working on the VFD.
When working on equipment with bypass, additional caution is required when working on a VFD, when the motor is running across
the line.

4 INSTALLATION
4.1 Installation
The chassis units are provided with power and control access areas. When the chassis is installed in another cabinet, access area
to that cabinet is essential.
• When drilling access holes care must be given so metal filings do not fall into the chassis assembly. Use a drop cloth to
protect chassis against metal filings.
The power wiring and the control wiring must be run in separate conduit and isolated from each other.
• Power cables must be meggared before connections are made to the VFD
• Sizing of the power wires is in Appendix A
• Power wires are required to the following:
• VFD input - L1, L2, L3, Earth ground connection to the VFD
• VFD output from - U, V, W / T1, T2, T3, Earth ground connection to the motor
• Check drive nameplate to determine Microprocessor control board is supplied – for example:
• SVGT420FDBNHN where D is the Microprocessor Basic control board. E is the Microprocessor Plus
•
Refer to Appendix A for the chassis drives power terminal block sizing information.
The drives do not have internal fuses. It is necessary to have fusing on the input supply to protect other components in the VFD and
to prevent extreme damage. Refer to Appendix A for a fuse chart to determine sizes required (based upon KW/HP). Fuses are
included with all options drives.
Some sizes have internal auxiliary supplied with transformers (see Appendix A) .The jumper should be in the factory default position
4 - 460 Vac. For different voltages change the jumper accordingly.

The drive control contains a number of functions that satisfy various process requirements. Each function can be enabled and
configured by properly setting the related configuration parameters; related commands can be sent to the drive either through
terminal block or through fieldbus.
• Critical Speed En
• Curr Rollback En
• VDC Rollback
• Flying Restart
• Motor Pot Enable
• VDC Undervolt En
• Free Run Stop
• HOA\Pulsed StartStop
• Auto-reset & Start En
• Auto On/Off
• Input Single phasing
• External PID Regulator
• Auto Tuning Select (see chapter 6)
When Enabled, the Critical Speed Skip[33.00] family belonging to the Auto Menu will be displayed. Three critical frequencies can
be defined, through [P33.01], [P33.03], and [P33.05]. The frequency avoidance is performed with a hysteresis value preset for
each frequency, through [P33.02], [P33.04], and [P33.06]. All parameters must be set in Hz. The hysteresis is twice the value set
for the band.

This function [P11.02] is used to limit the motor current during acceleration or in steady state during sudden load variations in order
to avoid overcurrent trips. During acceleration the current is limited by two combined actions:
This function is used to limit the DC bus voltage during deceleration, when no braking devices are present. When [11.03] is
Enabled, the VDC Rollback[35.00] family belonging to the Auto Menu will be displayed.
This function becomes effective only in transient condition, during the deceleration phase. It operates in two ways, according to the
selected [P01.02]:
• FOC or SLS Control Mode: when the VDC Rollback function is activated, the control of the drive reduces the motor torque.
• [P35.01]: the only adjustment allowed, is a limited increase of the threshold voltage for activating the function. This
adjustment is sometimes required for very large motors (Power of some hundreds Kw).
• V/Hz Motor Control Mode: when the VDC Rollback function is activated, the DC voltage is limited by two combined actions:
• Deceleration Ramp Lock, active immediately when the DC bus voltage exceeds the specified threshold.
• Increase of Motor Frequency (Only transient), active only if [P35.04] is set to a value different from zero.
• [P35.01]: the only adjustment allowed, is a limited increase of the threshold voltage for activating the function. This
adjustment is sometimes required for very large motors (Power of some hundreds kW).
• [P35.04]: this parameter is set to zero by default. In case the ramp lock is not enough for preventing the drive from
tripping by DC bus Overvoltage, the user can slowly increase the setting of this parameters, by small steps of 1
%. It means that, when the function becomes active, the ramp locks and the motor frequency is increased by the %
entered.
The Motor Pot [P11.06] changes the speed reference by means of discrete increments (up command) or decrements (down command).
The last speed reference set through the digital potentiometer can be memorized by a “Memorize” command: the value is maintained
until the command stays high. When the drive is stopped the memorized reference is stored and actuated at the next start.
The Digital Potentiometer function can be enabled only for the main speed reference. As default, the digital potentiometer function
modifies the speed reference between 0 and 100% of the maximum speed [P02.11]. It is possible for the speed range to be
extended to the negative region if the motor can spin in both directions. [P40.04] selects the speed range:
Speed reverse enable = Mtp Rev off (speed range 0 ÷ 100%) (default value)
Speed reverse enable = Mtp Rev on (speed range ±100%)
• Up, Down and Memorize commands can be sent through terminal block, through the digital expansion card or through
Fieldbus.
• If the Up/Down commands are held for a time longer than the time defined by [P40.03], the speed reference is unlocked and
the motor speed will increase or decrease according to the active ramp.
• When the Up/Down command is released, the reference coming from digital potentiometer will be set equal to the present
value of the reference after the ramp.

• During power grid loss, speed setpoint is the output of a PI regulator with VDC and [P47.01] respectively as setpoint and
feedback
• When the power grid trips, the RideThrough function regulates the motor speed in order to keep the DC voltage at the
setpoint specified by [P47.01]
• If the input voltage does not recover in a reasonable time and the speed of the drive continues to decrease down to zero,
when the speed reaches 10% of the maximum speed, the drive changes the status in “Busdroop” (firing pulses are
disabled).
• If the line is restored before a trip by Minimum DC voltage occurs, the drive restarts the motor after [P47.02]
• If the input voltage comes back when the motor is still running (before the speed goes below 10% to [P02.11]), the drive
regulates the motor to reach the required speed and the Ride Through function stops.
This function [P11.14] promptly switches off the firing pulses following a stop command. The drive will return to Rdy status while the
motor coasts to a stop. The motor can be restarted by applying the Start command.
This function [P11.15] allows the choose between manual and automatic mode through two digital inputs (Hand and Automatic).
Through the macro function HOA/Pulsed StartStop it is possible to select different managements of the Man/Auto functionality,
different START/STOP commands and different sources for speed reference. This function extends the operating mode of the drive
up to 9 different managements of the Man/Auto functionality.
The following describes the picklist available for this function and the parameters that will be enabled:

8 PSS_Select: Man/Auto selected trough HOA switches, pulse start stop P25.01, P25.02, P25.03,
enabled, with speed reference selectable by a single digital P25.04, P25.05
input in both manual and auto mode
The Auto Restart option [P11.16] automatically resets a trip and restarts the drive. When this function is enabled, most trips can be
recovered with the exception of critical trips that must be selected by the user such as [P70.04] through [P70.09]. The drive allows a
programmable number of sequential faults to occur before permanently shutting off the drive.
When a fault occurs, if the reset function is enabled for that fault, the drive will reset itself, pre-charge and attempt to start after a
time selected by [P70.01]. If the attempts fails for a number of times equal to the variable set in [P70.02], the drive is shut off and a
manual reset is required. The drive will operate for x minutes (x being the variable set in [P70.03] parameter) without a fault before
the reset counter is set back to 0.
The Input Single Phasing Macro can be used to manage the loss of one phase of the three-phase incoming line. It can be enabled
through [P11.18]. The picklist settings for this parameter are:
• Disable – the drive continues to work but a fault may occur due to undervoltage [F0209]
• Power Red – a power reduction is enabled whose features vary based upon control modes:
• V/HZ – current that can be supplied is reduced according to [P34.05]. Requires the enabling of [P11.02].
• Protection – Fault [F0215] due to phase failure occurs
NOTE Verify that the application can support a speed reduction without malfunctions.
If [P11.18] is set to disable, in case of loss of one supply phase, the DC bus could drop down (depending upon the energy level
The PID function [P11.20] allows the user to implement a closed control loop of a variable of the application such as closed loop
control of temperature. The output of the PID regulator is used as the speed reference for the drive.

[P27.09] defines the error signal, using the reference and feedback signal as follow:
This operation mode is selected using [P27.12] set to Continuous. The output of External PID is the speed reference; the start/stop
command must still come from either the terminal block or fieldbus.
The sources for the reference and feedback signals are selected through [P27.10] and [P27.11] and the settings are:
If the preset reference signal (FixedLvRef ) is selected , its value is set by [P27.08].
[P27.01], [P27.02], [P27.03], [P27.04], and [P27.05] can be used to tune the External PID regulator. In this operation mode the
integral gain value could be critical. Undesired overshoots occur if the integral gain is not set properly. If this occurs, try to reduce
the integral gain to zero.
If the reverse rotation of the motor must be prevented, the lower limit of the External PID regulator
WARNING
must be set to zero: [P27.05] = 0.
This operation mode is selected by setting [P2712] to On or Off. The start/stop command is a logic AND between the Start
command, used for the normal operation and a hysteresis control done by comparing the External PID feedback with two
thresholds configurable through [P27.06] and [P27.07]. The speed reference is set by parameter [P27.04].
7.8.12.3 Continuous Speed Reference Control and Hysteresis Control on Start/Stop Command with Preset Speed Reference
This operation mode is selected by setting [P2712] to Both. With respect to the continuous speed reference control in this case the
integral gain can be used without any restrictions.

DRIVE
Many functions regarding speed algorithm control such as speed references, speed limits, acceleration/deceleration time, speed
control by preset speeds and special functions can be set up using the parameters in the Speed Demand Setup menu [P22.00].
The speed reference can come from different sources. [P22.01] enables one of these sources. The picklist settings for the
parameter are:
[P22.03] allows the user to select the digital input ( pertaining to Microprocessor or to DI/DO Expansion Board or to a bit from
Network Command Word) that enables the auxiliary speed reference as set [P22.02].
[P22.04] allows the user to configure a Digital Input that enables the changing of rotation direction.
NOTE In “Manual Mode” and with “JOG command” the changing of rotation direction isn’t actuated

levels.
In forward rotation, the maximum frequency, that the drive can output, is the lowest value between [P02.11] and [P22.11]. In
reverse rotation, the maximum frequency, that the drive can output, is the lowest value between the setting of [P02.11] and
[P22.10].
In forward rotation, the maximum frequency that the drive can output, is the lowest value between the settings of [P02.11] and the
frequency that corresponds to the speed set by [P22.09]. In reverse rotation, the maximum frequency that the drive can output, is
the lowest value between the setting of [P02.11] and the frequency that corresponds to the speed set by [P22.08].
The following figure shows how these limits act against the Speed reference signal.

7.9.3 Ramps, Acceleration and Deceleration Times, Jerk time (or S-shaped ramp)
• Acceleration Time (Tacc) is set in seconds and defines the time necessary to accelerate from zero to maximum speed,
as defined by [P02.11]
• Deceleration Time (Tdecel) is set in seconds and defines the time necessary to decelerate from maximum speed to zero,
where the maximum speed is defined by [P02.11]
The following figure shows how the acceleration and deceleration times are defined, versus the maximum speed.
The selection of the Digital Inputs is made by [P22.23] and [P22.24]. When two DI’s are assigned to two physical connections of the
control card, the following Truth Table is used for switching from one set to another one:
Ramp set
1 2 3 4
[P22.23] Status Off On On Off
[P22.24] Status Off Off On On
In the OFF state an open contact exists on the physical connection of the control board, while in the ON state a contact closes the
physical connection of the control board to a +24 Volt. The condition of both DI’s in the OFF state is equivalent to having them
unassigned, as in the default situation, where only Set 1 is in use.
The Acceleration Time 1 to 4 can be multiplied by a fixed number, set by [P22.14]. The Deceleration Times 1 to 4 can be multiplied
by a fixed number, set by [P22.15] .Either parameter allows two settings: multiplied by 10 or by 25. The multipliers act
simultaneously on all four sets.

[P22.22]
Preset Speeds
The Preset Speed function enables the speed reference to have a fixed value. The value accepted by this parameter is a
FREQUENCY value, in Hz. [P22.01] is used to enable the function.
This function allows the motor to run at a Preset Speed. Four Preset Speeds can be defined.
The values for pre-set speed are set by [P22.26], [P22.27], [P22.28], and [P22.29]. A switch command from [P22.26] to [P22.27]
or [P22.28] or [P22.29] can be given through two DI’s of the Microprocessor card. These DI’s must be selected by using [P22.30] or
[P22.31].
When the two DI’s are assigned to two physical connection of the control card, the following Truth Table is used for switching from a
set to another one:
Preset speed
1 2 3 4
In the OFF state an open contact exists on the physical connection of the control board, while in the ON state a contact closes the
physical connection of the control board to a +24 Volt. The condition of both DI’s in the OFF state is equivalent to having them
unassigned, as in the default situation, where only Set 1 is in use.
This function defines the overload current level for the motor, in a given time, before a trip or an alarm condition is activated by the drive.

7/21/2019 GT3000_manual
In order to make the function work correctly, a 4-20 mA AI is needed. In case a 0-10 Volt source is used, a correct parameter setting
for the AI must be made. In the latter case, Setpoint 1 (the value in % of the input signal voltage full scale) of the AI must be greater
than 0%.
This function enables the detection of an under load condition. Typically, this feature is used on pumps that are required to maintain
a minimum flow or load level for lubrication requirements. To enable this function a value other than zero must be set for [P69.24].
For all the control modes this threshold is entered represents a percentage of the maximum full load torque current.
For the above parameter to be calculated correctly, a proper value for [P02.07] must be entered. This
NOTE parameter is normally not required for V/Hz control mode operation.
[P69.25] is used to set the amount of time that must elapse (while the load is below the programmable minimum value Under Load
Limit) before an under load fault is generated.
The function automatically restores a lock and restarts the drive. The function acts on all locks. For some critical locks, it is
necessary to perform a selection from the user’s side.

VFD/Off/Line Operation
• V/O/L mode select switch allows control of the motor off the VFD, the Line, or the Off position.
• Off Position – Motor is in the standby mode
• VFD Position – Motor is controlled off the Variable Frequency Drive
• The contactor must be picked up before the drive is enabled.
• Wire aux from VFD contactor to:
• Microprocessor Basic terminals 10 to 9
• Microprocessor Plus terminals 24 to 20
• The contactor should be sealed in until the drive is at zero speed.
• Digital output relay is programmed (running) and is used to seal the contractor in until the motor has stopped.
• This prevents water hammering and sudden stops in the process.
• Line Position – Motor is controlled off the Line
• If mechanical interlocks are not incorporated then electrical interlocks must be incorporated.
Automatic Bypass
• This feature is an option that switches the motor from VFD operation to Line operation automatically in the event of a
Drive fault.

Pressure Transducer
• Device, which receives a 3-15 PSI pneumatic signal, and converts that it to a 4-10 mA signal.
• Signal can be used to control demand of VFD via direct speed control, or a feedback to a PID loop controller.
Door control
• Hand/Off/Auto or Local/Off/Remote
• Door mounted selector switch.
• Hand or Local mode – this enables manual operation of the drive. Start, stop and speed are manually controlled at
the VFD.
• Off mode – this places the drive in a standby mode.
• Automatic or Remote mode – this enables automatic operation ofz the drive. Start, stop and speed are
automatically controlled via contact input and an external speed control signal.
• Speed Pot
• Door mounted potentiometer that may be used to control the speed of the drive
System Voltage
• Represents the system voltage. Standards are 380, 415, 480, 600, and 690V.
• Used to setup software parameters and control transformer configuration
• System HP/KW – represents the system HP and torque ratings
• Variable torque or constant torque, HP or KW
• V005 represents a 5 HP Variable torque unit
• C010 would represent a 10HP Constant torque unit
• In cases where system voltages are 380, 415 or 690V, these digits would represent KW
• In cases where system voltages are 480 and 600, these digits would represent HP
Miscellaneous items
• VFD OffLine Operation
• V/O/L mode select switch - allows different modes of control of the motor
•
VFD position – motor is operated on the Variable Frequency Drive
• Off position – motor is in the standby mode
• Line position – motor is operated on the line
• Encoder – Vector control mode only
• Encoder feedback is being used for closed loop vector control operation
• Shielded cable should be run from the encoder to the VFD
• The shield should be lifted at the motor end and connected to control ground on the Microprocessor Board

2 SPECIFICHE
inclusi schemi e disegni d’ingombro. Qualora qualche parte risultasse danneggiata o mancante, l’acquirente dovrà presentare

Viene automaticamente riportato OFF alla
fine dell’operazione.
mantenuto a livello ottimale.

visualizzata in Auto Menu.
visualizzata in Auto Menu [Aut.04].
Speed reverse enable = Mtp Rev on (campo di velocità ±100%)

[P26.01]
tensione (10 Volt) o corrente (20 mA) accettate dall’ingresso analogico.

impostata in [P22.09].
