Topic :- Analysis and optimization of water distribution systems, A case study of

Kurudu post service housing estate, Abuja, Nigeria

Due to rapid urbanization and exponential increase in population on earth the demand for supply of water
through water distribution system plays an important role , water distribution has to be efficient enough
to minimize the waste of water and meet the requirement of public on time (demand and supply should
meet). I have taken a case study of kurudu post service housing estate , Abuja , Nigeria to study how there
was research has been done to analyze , model and optimize the WDS , which may helpful to apply to
other complex water distribution system .
The main of this optimization problem includes , examination of study area of WDS by modeling of flow,
velocity and head loss by using EPANET & LINGO software
Optimization method :-

• Topic: Analysis and optimization of water distribution systems.

• Objective: To minimize the cost of installation and operation of the system (System cost).
• Decision variables: Pipe diameter , corresponding pile length , number of link ,head of
water in distribution system.
• Constraints: Satisfying demand and hydraulic criteria.
