An elderly Japanese man was detained by police after calling a police station 2,060 times in
nine days to yell at staff and call them "tax thieves" and "big jerks."

Between September, 30 and October 8, the 67-year-old man from Saitama Prefecture
PHONED the police a total of 2,060 times to insult the staff and tell them they should be
fired. That's an average of one call every six minutes and a total talk time of about 27 hours
over the nine-day interval. Eventually, the police raided his home and arrested him for
obstruction of police work. The man admitted to the charges, saying, "I knew the police
would come for me one day."
This strange case is being investigated, but since the 67-year-old Japanese man, whose name
has not been released, does not seem very willing to cooperate with the police, we may
never know what led him to call the police station so many times.

A Japanese man has been arrested for calling the police over 2,000 times in
nine days to harass them.
Japan’s Saitama Prefectural Police stated that the 67-year-old man called their
headquarters 2,060 times between Sept. 30 and Oct. 8., saying that they should
be fired. The man also told the police that they are “tax thieves” and “big stupid
assholes," as per SoraNews24.
Since the man verbally abused the police for more than 27 hours in total, he was
suspected of interfering with police operations.
On Nov. 28, he was arrested and reportedly said, “I knew the police would come
for me someday.”

Japan’s Saitama Prefectural Police stated that the 67-year-old man called their headquarters
2,060 times between Sept. 30 and Oct. 8., saying that they should be fired. The man also told
the police that they are tax thieves and big stupid assholes, SoraNews24 reported.
Police said they wasted around 27 hours on the phone with the angry man which they say
means he's guilty of obstructing police business. He was arrested on November 28 and
confessed to the crime after police questioning.

After his arrest, he said:

I knew the police would come for me someday.

People on social media were split, with some condemning the man's actions while others
applauded his sheer commitment to the cause.

 He seems to have a marketable job skill as a telephone operator.
 That’s a special kind of hobby.
