Discuss in not more than five sentences how each of the following poverty situations
in the Philippines could be solved,

1. Rural poverty

In our country, Agriculture is the main source of people especially from rural areas.
For poverty to be solved, promoting and investing in agriculture is highly
recommended. Programs supporting and protecting lands, farms, marine areas and
providing materials should also be implemented. Many of us witnessed the sufferings
and sacrifices of our farmers and was waiting for some action. But thankfully, in the
State of the Nation Address yesterday, President Marcos said to support farmers and
fishermen financially for their production.

2. Poverty among women

Teenagers, Mothers, Little children forces themselves into hard labours just to support
their families, some go abroad, and some just have no choice but to do prostitution.
The generation we are in today is modern but we are still caged by this Gender
inequality. When it comes to labor, women are commonly assigned to domestic work
which is unpaid and they are limited to resources and participation in political,
economic and social economic decision making as these are commonly assigned to
men. To solve these, the improvement of laws especially gender biased laws will greatly
help and also the provision of opportunities like increasing job opportunities for women.
Gender equality and women empowerment is the key as this would increase the
participation rates of women on high payed occupations or any activities which would
pull them out from poverty.

3. Poverty of indigenous communities

Indigenous people face so many problems including discrimination, ancestral lands

being take away, lack of support from the government and many more which affects
their status/level in life. Usually, Indigenous people like myself, live on mountainous areas
that has amazing views, wonders, and cultures. We treasure our culture and would love
it to spread, for instance, we have what we call ‘BATOK’ , the type of tattooing that
elders usually do. President Marcos said in his SONA, that “As for the Filipino brand, ours
is deeply rooted in our rich cultural heritage and the tourism sector plays an invaluable
role in the promotion of the Filipino brand. Tourism is not only an important economic
development tool but the abundance of opportunities that the sector creates in terms
of regular employment and even job creation at the grassroots level is undeniable.”
