Diesel Burnt (L)

Issue given: What financial and physical conditions are needed to convince the project developer
to select an option that has the lowest CO2 emissions from fuel burning?
If the project developer selects an option that has the lowest CO2 emissions, he/she is selecting
an option which involves the use of wind turbines or any other form of renewable source of
energy. The initial investment will be high but the expenditure over a duration of time will be
less as given in the tables included in figure 15.6 from the given text. This will help save money
and hence is financially a better option than those which emit more CO2 emissions. Subsidies can
also be provided by the government to convince the project developer to select an option that has
low CO2 emissions. These options are cleaner and more efficient as compared to their diesel
burning counterparts and hence maintenance will be easier and upgrading them based on new
technology will also be easier.
