So, Clause 7which is “Support”, specifi cally talks about People,

Infrastructure, Environment, Monitoring and Measuring Resources,

Organizational Knowledge, Competence, Awareness, Communication and

Documented Information as support resources that shall be determined

and their eff ectiveness evaluated to ensure that the organization deliver

high-quality product and services and always meet the customer

requirements.

Every organization requires different resources to run smoothly like

infrastructure, people, communication channels, equipment, training, knowledge

repositories and the necessary environment. The organization will not able to be

successful without these critical support systems. Therefore, It is significant that the

management determine the required right number and quality of resources to

effectively track their businesses.


7.1 Resources

Resources are key to the success of organizations especially those

which are heavily dependent on people. It also determining and

maintaining organizational knowledge such as backing up electronic

documents, records, or systems and documenting essential tribal

knowledge.

7.2 Competence

The organization must determine the necessary competence of a

person doing a work under its control that affects the performance

and effectiveness of its QMS.


Clause 7.3 – Awareness

Persons doing work under the organization’s control must be aware

of the quality policy; relevant quality objectives; their contribution

to the effectiveness of the QMS, including benefits of improved

quality performance; and the implications of not conforming with

system requirements.

Clause 7.4 – Communication

The organization should determine the internal and external

communications relevant to the QMS, including: on what it will

communicate; when to communicate; with whom to communicate;

how to communicate.

Clause 7.5 – Documented information

This clause requires that the organization identify and maintain

documents required for the effective working of the quality

management system. Methods should be put in place to ensure

confidentiality; integrity is maintained and improper use for

documented information is prevented.
