What is Genre?
The word genre is originally French. It is used in music, film, and literature.
“In music, genre refers to musical style such as jazz, salsa or rock. In film or
literature, the genre is determined by the subject, setting, or plot of the story.”
(Vocabulary.com)
What is a Literary Classic?
A classic is a book which is well-known by several generations of readers. It
is considered to be very well written, and as a result, most readers would
consider it enjoyable, and easy-reading.
The themes of books considered ‘classics,’ usually deal with elements of
general human experience (love, friendship, jealousy, inequalities,
perseverance, success, failure, pain, sorrow, etc.) Because of their universal
appeal, they are translated into different languages. (Bridget McNulty)
Enlist = recruit
What does it mean to recruit someone?
to find suitable people and get them to join… a company, an
organization, the armed forces, etc. : to form or build (a group, team, army,
etc.) by getting people to join. : to persuade (someone) to join you in some
activity or to help you.
What is a prepayment penalty?
“A prepayment penalty is a fee that some lenders charge if you pay off all
or part of your mortgage early. If you have a prepayment penalty, you
would have agreed to this when you closed on your home. Not all
mortgages have a prepayment penalty.” (Consumer Financial Protection Bureau)

To bump into = to run into someone = to meet someone by chance.

of a section of a narrative with the express purpose of keeping audiences

Figuratively speaking = speaking about something as a metaphor


Literally speaking = speaking about something
that did happen

SUV stands for Sports Utility Vehicle

He likes to read the newspaper thoroughly.
